Ocean11 0
I saw some good TV yesterday lunchtime. An ex-porno director (whom everybody insists on calling 'kantoku' in all seriousness) was interviewing a 110-year old man. Although the old geezer gets about with a walking frame and is a bit deaf in one ear, he dresses himself in a suit and tie every day, feeds himself, and talks in clear, well-considered sentences. He remembers the terrible Russo-Japanese war clearly, as well as the 1923 Tokyo earthquake. Kantoku asked him who he voted for in the last election, and he replied "The current government", and opined that Koizumi's policies were "magnificent". I was a bit disappointed that 110 years of experience hadn't sharpened his appreciation of good and bad politics. Quite a good question from a porn director though. Quality television it was. I rather enjoyed it. One program I really like is Dash Mura. It's a clever way of getting people to realize how much 'technology' there is besides Sony, and to understand how much work is involved in making food. Those personable young lads from that band who spend all their time at Dash Mura are a perfect fit for the program too.
