SnowConnection 0
A mountaineering skier(male 45) was found dead on April 22 moring in a creek of Keto-zawa, Niigata. On April 19, he reportedly started from the top lift of Tenjin-Daira ski-jyo, went thru Tanigawa-dake and Mantaro-yama and would descend down to Tsuchitaru. He was in water 4Km before the destination. He seemed to die of hypothemia. Yahoo! Map (Keto-zawa): http://map.yahoo.co.jp/pl?nl=36.49.31.21...E.x=65&CE.y=
mattlucas 0
Do you know if he was trying to cross the creek or was he swept into it from a slide?
Kumapix 0
bad idea for him to do it solo
dizzy 0
how unfortunate yeah, you must want some lines pretty bad to go out there alone
mattlucas 0
I disagree that it's a bad idea to go solo. And you don't have to want some lines really bad to do it. There is something really peaceful about being in the backcountry on your own.
SnowConnection 0
The same idea though I do not go BC by myself. A solo skier tells he can go forward/backward by his own decision and take his way at hazoudous place. Why do not I go alone ? I do not carry enough bivouac gears and foods for when breaking a leg or when loosing skies.
