SnowConnection 0
An avalanche attaked a climer(49 from Gunma) in Senjyo-take(3,033m) on April 9th morning. he was injured in head. http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/national/news/20060409i111.htm Yahoo! Map (Senjyo-dake): http://map.yahoo.co.jp/pl?nl=35.43.0.597...2%f4%c6%bd&sc=5 Comment: Senjyo-dake is a popular mountain over 3,000m in summer season. Advanced BC skiers enjoy powder around Golden Week (April end) sometimes staying at Senjyo hut (open but no food/meal/bed/stove/heater). I've been at the top in summer when beginners are OK. daver 0
let me get this straight, in two days there have been six people killed, two injured, and four are currently missing. these are stemming from five seperate incidents. that is just terrible and truly saddening. i heard earlier in the year the the government was considering a national avalanche association to research slides, help prevent them, and educate people. given this year's tragedies i truly hope so. stay safe everyone
SnowConnection 0
Avy killed some. But, strong wind/fog/low temparature made victims be to hypothermia death in the most cases. In Renge Onsen route case, a small avy attacked when they were putting skins, and robbed their packs and gears reportedly. No one was buried.
