Toque, just read your journal and noticed this...

"I was bivying so dug out a grave for myself in the snow. I used my iceaxe to cut branches from the coniferous shrubs. I lined the bottom of my grave with the shrubs and this kept me a little further from the snow. Nick and Dan were sleeping in Dan's tent."

what's bivying?

Always good reads by the way \:\)

Bivi sack

A mostly waterproof cover for your sleeping bag

Like a tent but smaller and easier to get out of the wind.

Mine zips right up and even has a mesh cover to keep bugs out

Many mountaineers and BC skiers use them as emergency tools

My bivi sack

For winter/fall and early spring I use an old -12 down bag. It's about 10 years old so isn't -12 anymore. Maybe -5.

Late Spring/Summer and early fall I use an overbag. Rated for tropical weather.

I sleep very warm.
