boardbaka 3
just wondring if anyone knows a way to get from nagano city to yuzawa by bus? all the trains seem to mean you have to back through Tokyo! It seems pointless I know but then again my plans were not well constructed!!
3da5snow 0
Don't know about buses, but if you go by shinkansen, you can transfer at Takasaki stn. There's a whole mess of other ways to get from Nagano to Niigata without having to go through Tokyo. I always found Hyperdia to be a useful resource for finding train routes and schedules. You can find it here. http://grace.hyperdia.com/cgi-english/hyperd01.cgi?
muikabochi 208
Trains are messy. I think local lines is get the Iiyama line to Tokamachi then get Hokuhoku line to Yuzawa. Or better get a friend to drive: From Nagano > past Nozawa > through Tsunan > Route 353 over to Ishiuchi > Yuzawa. Probably about 2 hours maybe a bit more.
SnowConnection 0
The center mark is Nagano. http://map.yahoo.co.jp/pl?nl=36.38.24.00...4%b9%cc%ee&sc=8 The center mark is Echigo Yuzawa (Yuzawa). http://map.yahoo.co.jp/pl?nl=36.55.57.08...4%b9%cc%ee&sc=8 The center mark is Tsunan. http://map.yahoo.co.jp/pl?nl=37.1.12.417...4%b9%cc%ee&sc=8 The center mark is Echigo Kawaguchi. http://map.yahoo.co.jp/pl?nl=37.16.11.86...4%b9%cc%ee&sc=8 Trace maps. No straight road is between Nagano and Yuzawa. Yes, the shortest drive is from Nagano to Tsunan to Yuzawa. I am not sure how local buses connect them. It would be tough to check bus time tables even for native Japanese... A line of JR train is from Nagano to Echigo Kawaguchi to Echigo Yuzawa. Correction: The route from Nagano to Tokamachi to EchigoYuzwa is better. I tell you it is a nice bike route from Nagano to Karuizawa (or Takasaki, or Numata) in summer season. The roads are closed in winter. No bike road is from Nagano directly to Yuzawa in all seasons.(You may challenge it by MTB!)
nagpants 1
You can get off the train before Kawaguchi - transfer at Tokamachi to the Hokuhoku-sen to Yuzawa.
SnowConnection 0
Yah, nagpants is right. I forgot Hokuhoku-sen of JR train. http://www.hokuhoku.co.jp/7ensen/7sita.html Hokuhoku-sen connects Saigata to Muikamachi. The shortest way of JR train is from Nagano to Tokamachi to Echigo-Yuzwa in terms of distance. The center mark is Tokamachi. http://map.yahoo.co.jp/pl?nl=37.7.53.757...4%b9%cc%ee&sc=8 Note: The official JR station name is "Echigo-Yuzawa" in Niigata prefecture. JR "Yuzawa" station is located in Akita prefecture. It sometimes confuses even native Japanese. FYI. Sample Date: 2006.Jan.10 JR Route 1: Nagano 09:22 ->Takasaki-> EchigoYuzawa 10:45 Time: 1:23, Cost: 9,300 yen JR Route 2: Nagano 09:23 ->Naoetsu-> EchigoYuzawa 11:54 Time: 2:31, Cost: 4,510 yen JR Route 3: (Iiyama-sen & Hokuhoku-sen) Nagano 10:00 -> Tokamachi-> EchigoYuzawa 13:51 Time: 3:51, Cost: 2,230 yen Note) Time includues transition time. Note) Cost is one-way fare.
