all I need is snow

For my 2 daughters, aged 4 & 6, all we want is to play in the snow. No skiing, no snowboarding, but maybe some sledding. Any suggestions for a good cheap resort near Tokyo?

 

Bus is not recommended (they start squirming in their seats even before the bus starts). And we don't have a car.

 

There was an overnight tour to Hokkaido by HIS Travel for only 19,800 yen. Seems to be a good deal. Any comments?

Kariuzawa perhaps? Not sure how kid capable it is, but it's soooo close to the Shinkansen, and not far from Tokyo, and there's a Prince Hotel there for the princely.

Is that Prince as dingy and horrid as the one at Naeba, or better than that?

I'm trying to remember the Naeba prince. Never skied there, but stayed there once a few years back off season. I think Naeba's probably bigger. Ask Markie about details of the Kariuzawa Prince.

Thanks for the tips. But Prince Hotels are way out of our budget... never heard anyone say that these hotels offer value for money.

 

All we want is snow ... to let the kids wallow in. How is Sapporo in March? There's a 1-night package (plane & hotel w/ breakfast) for about 22,300 each (HIS travel). Is this a good deal?

there are some places that I often see lots of families with small kids playing around in Yuzawa. Ippon-Sugi, Yuzawa-Kogen, Iwappara.

I think you can see snow somewhere around Gotenba which is probably closest from your location, 2 angels.

Maybe Nikko also works?

Echigo-Yuzawa or Karuizawa work better for sure.
