sv 0 Posted October 18, 2005 Share Posted October 18, 2005 Hey, now's it going? I'm an aussie guy, heading solo to Japan for some boarding in late jan/early feb, for about 2-3 weeks. Am most likely going to ride at Niseko, as it seems like a decent enough place for powder and free-riding. I was wondering whether anyone had any suggestions for accommodation (luxury not required), and what the potential for free-riding was like at Niseko. Most of my riding o/s has been done on larger hills and in the backcountry of Nth and Sth America, but friends who have visted Niseko rated it highly. Any advice? Also, if anyone is going to be there around the same time, and is interested in some ocmpany, I'd be stoked to catch up; I don;t care what you wear on your feet, and I can ride reasonably well. The other guys on here would be able to help you with guides, maybe check out Evergreen. I'm over there end of Jan, for the third time so may be able to hook up for a slide. I'm planning on being in Japan about Jan 22, and I don't really have a preference on which mountain/s I visit, so long as the riding is good and there is (hopefully) some decent snow about. I have stayed at Momanoki which is a pretty good four star with a great onsen and three minute walk to the Happone lifts. You won't be dissapointed with the terrain and I have been there that time of year for the last two and they have had metre+ dumps both years. Link to post Share on other sites

And yes, we did it because we were getting 2 types of problems (problems that annoyed both forum users and us) a) people were registering for the forums and then set about spamming hundreds of other registered users with their offers for enlarged private parts, rolex watches, etc. people/companies were registering for the forums thinking it was a good way to get some free advertising and started to send out mass mails trying to sell their products/services via our PM system. In each of the cases above, none of them seemed to have any intention of actually taking part in the forums at all - they either wanted to do their annoying spam thing, or try to get some free sales from our audience. So people now have to post a bit on the forums for the Private Messages thing to be available. Hope that makes some sense. Link to post Share on other sites

I'll most likely PM some of you guys in a few weeks, once I have sorted out accom and the final destinations. Due to the reviews you've given me, I'm also considering a week at Hakuba, and a week at Niseko - all good!
