Curious this, I've noticed it last year as well.

 

Some resorts seem to put on their floodlights even when they are not operating nighta. Like in a weekday when their nighta is only weekends, or like now before nighta starts.

 

Why is that, anyone know?

Well, yeah, here is Japan where they were cold and scared of the dark in the War, so when you come to work, you turn on all the heating and all the lights. Even if it happens to be an enormous ski resort. And even if you weren't born till after the War.

My friend up in Niigata told me that on the way to Kandatsu the other morning (at 5:30am), the lights were on at Ishiuchi Maruyama. No one to be seen, and the resort only opens at 8:30.

 

Now why would that be?
