Just heard from fattwins(who is in Gifu now) That there is high avie danger in the Takasu area. Both man-made and natural risks about 30-50 cm slabs possibility of breaking off. This situation will remain until settling weather conditions move into the area. Take care riding in this area.

I was up at niseko for a few days. Got back last night. Strong winds especially at higher elevations persisted for several days. Very windy last night in Saporro. Id be very careful on wind loaded slopes up there today.

Just got back from a 3 day trip in the takasu area of Gifu. No SHIT 150 cms plus fell in some areas sick it was. The first day slabs were being cut off in areas of around 25 to 30 degree plus. The snow keep piling on.

Next day a 1 meter of light snow had fallen on a hard layer, Also when the snow first started to fall it was wet, this seemed to be the layer where the slabs were breaking off from the day before. Called Barok to tell him and his buddies to be careful in Hakuba dont ride anything too open and use your head. Unfortunatly someone did die a little north of the takasu area.

Today sun out in full Gifu fashion today great day lots of old Avlanches could be seen the snow seemed to be ok at around 30 degrees. I would consider the avie danger above High and anyone traveling out of bounds or building back country jumps should be careful and dig pits first.

This story holds ture for everyone out there. after this big a storm the temptation to jump into those prime spots is over powering, please be careful and dont get killed, give it time to settle.
