Popular Post @tokyo 14
You'll have fewer problems than the Japanese people trying to communicate in their own language up there, don't worry.

Thundercat 60
Run into any problems with only English? Once you arrive in Niseko you'll have a harder time running into any Japanese speakers!

Saitaman 1
Even the 6 Japanese people up there don't speak Japanese. They have probably forgotten how to!
seemore 66
The only problem we had with language was a taxi driver who drove us to Kutchan to the big shopping centre. Other than that Madarin and Australian are the main languages there

neb5 0
I've also got a Japanese app on my phone which does not use data when roaming....it says the phrases out loud if you cant get your mouth around some of them. The "a large bottle of beer please" is a useful one!!
seemore 66
Damn... I wish I spoke Australian.....seems like a bear of a language to learn.. It's similar to Canadian Just butchered English
pie-eater 207
I find that the phrase 'Good day, mate' goes down well with Australians and is popular Nisekogo. Oh, and 'barbie'. Not meaning the doll, but a barbecue. Also, banter about Crocodile Dundee and also that Steve Irwin Crocodile Hunter fellow always goes down a treat. A 'JR hat' with corks dangling down around the sides, whilst looking silly, always makes for a good prop to have hand to help you fit in.

Alexander L 80
This Niseko language dissing has been going on for over ten years. Frankly, it's getting old. Everyone should learn Australian and respect your hosts.

pie-eater 207
For supposed uber-gnarly folk, some people really are actually big pink over-sensitive girly blouses. But it's mildly amusing, so please continue.
Aggro Crag 1
Oh hey guy... I read this topic title like a Seinfeld joke. (slap bass sound effect) now I'm thinking of it like a finish this sentence sort of thing. English in Japan is... Honestly though it doesn't really seem to matter. It might save you a bit of frustration, but not being a dick is pretty universal.
pie-eater 207
I'm fine thank you, and you?
