Size of board

I'm 5'11 (178cmsih) and use a Burton Custom 162...seems to work very well for me on the groomers and powder, but then again, I've only snowboarded 25 times total so maybe I don't know whats best...

 

I'd like to get a freestyle board to compliment it next year...

I got back from Niseko at the end of Jan. Great place.

 

I took over a 155 and a 165. I normally use the 155 in Australia. I only used the 155 in Niseko as well, but it is wider than your normal board and i am only 5 foot 10 and 62kgs.

ill jump in on an old thread too, ray.

i was riding a 167, but changed to a 156. i weigh about 65kgs at the mome. never really needed the extra length, but would use it in open mountain pow.

 

ocean, the change from a long to the short is like the difference between driving an xb falon panel van

 

 

and a 74 capri

 

 

if u r planning more park time u gonna have more fun in the capri. but for the longer missions the van's the bizz.

 

as my skills improve, i hope to move into some classier rides but this sums up the present situation.

Whats the rental like over there? Is it cheap/easy to rent a longer board there?

I didn't hire a board over there so i'm not sure what the prices are like. There are a couple of places that will hire out longer boards if required. Probably the easiest place is Snowave.

 

If possible i'd bring over a board instead of renting one in Japan. I would suggest it would be cheaper to rent one from Oz than in Japan.
