muikabochi 208
Hoping one of the Hakuba regulars can help me out here. I plan to go over to Hakuba sometime in the near future hopefully, on a fine sunny clear day. Given it's clear skies and the sun is out, what would you say is the best time for views looking up / towards the mountains in terms of light and me getting my nice white/blue contrast? Early morning? Thanks.
rider69 18
Early morning from Hakuba Highland, Aoni or Donguri look out above the avie barriers. Late night will give you the red sky as the sun sets behind.
muikabochi 208
Thanks. So if I'm at 47/Goryu/Happo, the best time for those deep blue skies looking towards the mountains is morning... that about right? Then again, I do like my 'sun shots'.
miller 1
Clear day spend the whole day and get a big range of shots. Look forward to seeing them.
rider69 18
Early morning is best. You can wait of course for the best light. The Donguri option is great you can get Happo and 47 in the shots along with the mountains. Also you get a nice view of the town. Dont drive your car all the way up the road it can be dangerous without chains even for 4wd cars.
muikabochi 208
Thanks. No worries about the car, I live in the real Snow Country - we get more snow in town than you.
NoFakie 45
That road is hard work in a van in summer. My fave ever photo of Hakuba on this website was taken from that spot though by ebc's mate when they camped there. It showed the groomers working at night. Best light is very early morning when the mountains are pink and orange. Full moon is stunning too when its clear.
