Hoping one of the Hakuba regulars can help me out here.

I plan to go over to Hakuba sometime in the near future hopefully, on a fine sunny clear day.

Given it's clear skies and the sun is out, what would you say is the best time for views looking up / towards the mountains in terms of light and me getting my nice white/blue contrast?

Early morning?

Thanks.

Early morning is best. You can wait of course for the best light.

The Donguri option is great you can get Happo and 47 in the shots along with the mountains. Also you get a nice view of the town.

Dont drive your car all the way up the road it can be dangerous without chains even for 4wd cars.

That road is hard work in a van in summer. My fave ever photo of Hakuba on this website was taken from that spot though by ebc's mate when they camped there. It showed the groomers working at night.

Best light is very early morning when the mountains are pink and orange. Full moon is stunning too when its clear.
