snow Nellie 0
Thanks heaps. We have been really confused what to bring. The banks tell us you'll have no problem using the travel cards !!!My brother went to Hakuba 3 years ago and had problems with cards.I wasn't sure if things had improved since then. Tubby Beaver 209
Japan is a cash country and while it is getting better, its not across the board. So Tokyo and big cities you'll prob be fine but countryside is another matter. I can't tell you for sure about Hakuba, one of the ppl living there could advise, but I'd be on the safe side and just bring cash. Even leave a little emergency funds in you Oz bank account and bring your atm card, if its cirrus or maestro then you can get money out from any Post Office machine and any 7-11 machine. Its safe here as well, so carrying large amounts of cash around is the norm for japanese people.

Has that changed? Seems to have panhead pete. Sign on it says you can use cirrus and maestro, and we successfully used maestro, so no reason why it wouldn't work this year. panhead_pete 27
I could access cash from my credit card but not my normal ATM card from Westpac There is a $20 fee to do that too. So you guys can access your savings and checking accounts with your Aus ATM card?
