pickled mushhead 0
..this season? Thinking of exploring a bit up there? Maybe taking a week or more and driving up that area and just exploring. Not done something like that for a while, somehow appealing to me.

ceecee 0
Will be at Zao in Feb 2011 but not Appi/Shizukushi.
iiyamadude 6
I am also hoping to go up to Zao this winter. It seems worth a visit. Not sure of the other two, getting a bit far up that. Haven't heard much about Shizukuishi at all, that's a Prince place right?
stemik 14
Wow, thats the second time i have heard of Shizukuishi this week. Something to do with a Kids super G race there next spring...and its about 7 hours drive from here!
muikabochi 208
It's not near thats for sure. Not too far from Appi Kogen. Bit of a trek. But I suppose if Bag can do it......
Zaoman 0
I make the trip up there a few times. I like both places, probably Shizukuishi more. Let me know when you are there and perhaps we can meet up.
dogger 0
I'm going in late February - friend's family have a place up near Appi/. Stoked to check out a new region never been that far up north before.
gnarly-dude 1
I wouldn't make a huge trip for Appi myself. Not been to Shizukuishi.
soubriquet 0
Appi is big (for Tohoku) and a well organised resort. It is also one of the dullest mountains I've ever skied. If the snow is right it would be epic, but I've only been there late season. Zao is smaller, disorganised, problematic and a real challenge. Appi is an excellent resort for beginners/intermediates wanting to clock lots of miles. Zao is a mountain.
muikabochi 208
I haven't been to Appi, but I think Zao is a fantastic place. And not too difficult to get used to with a map and one going over. It's hardly a big challenge.
soubriquet 0
Thanks muikabochi The second best ski-jo in Tohoku is Onokobe. Bar none.
