Heading to Shiga Kogen for the first time & have a couple of questions.

1/ Does Shiga have a good range of on-course restaurants like Nozawa (spoilt for choice there), or do you eat at accommodation base areas?

2/ Is it possible to ski all of the red & black runs over 7 days? (conditions permitting)

Any info on Shiga Kogen appreciated.

Cheers,

Hi wave

1) Not sure about 'good range' but there are restaurants dotted all over the Shiga Kogen area. There's lots of 'bases' at SK anyway....

2) Oh yes. If you were trying to, you could cover it in a few. But you can certainly enjoy 7 days in Shiga Kogen.

Regarding restaurants.... I don't think there are that many on the slopes actually in Shiga Kogen. Mostly you find them at the bottom of the lifts though as iiyamadude said there is a lot of area that can be considered 'base' at Shiga Kogen which makes it rather different in setup to Nozawa. On noteable exception is the place at the top of Yokoteyama (the bread shop).

Will you be skiing or snowboarding? If skiing, be sure to check out Yokoteyama/Kumanoyu.

7 days in SK will be good. thumbsup

You should. Yokoteyama was until not so long ago skiers only (and still boarders are limited to some runs) while Kumanoyu is skiers only.

Often great snow up there too.

Cool, I am really looking forward to it.
How early does the first bus leave Ichimose for Yokoteyama?
