Hi All,

new to this forum so be gentle.

Got to go to a wedding in Australia next Jan 2010 and because it's slap bang in the middle of ski season, thought it would be good to stop in Japan for a week and go skiing.

Planning to leave UK on boxing day and spend about a week before flying on to Sydney and said wedding.

What I want to know is, which area should I go to. Does it take ages to get up to the north (eg. Hokkaido or similar) as I clearly want to spend as much time skiing as possible or should I go somewhere on the mainland eg Nagano or similar) that is closer to Tokyo or the other main cities (but i guess these are busier?)

Other factors to consider is that my wife is not the same level at skiing as I am and may struggle with huge amounts of pow.

Any input much appreciated.
