rach 1
OK I was reading something just now and it said that you can 'get an email back', one you have sent, before the other person gets it - if that other person hasn't checked his mails and downloaded it yet. Sounds very unlikely to me. But it says here that if you go to your sent messages, there is a 'Recall this message' option in Tools (doesn't seem to be in Outlook 2007) that lets you do this? Rubbish or something to it? Thanks!
tsondaboy 0
there is something to it. I am not so sure if this is a function of the mail software or the mail server, but it does exist.
tsondaboy 0
Did some research and it looks like its just an Outlook function. So basically it has no meaning, since you can always look at the original mail if its still stored in the mail server.
HelperElfMissy 42
I have had some sent that have been recalled - and they appear with a line through them in the inbox, however you can still read them. As someone who sent an email to the wrong person with very explosive consequenses...best bet is to write up all emails without an address in the address bar. Check them thorougly - THEN add the recipients - check the recipients names and then press send! Better to check and have no regrets!
@tokyo 14
I didn't know that.
base40 0
Surely a mail can't be brought back without a trace as it is residing on the other persons server until they download and can't delete something from there. (Right?)
tsondaboy 0
As long as its still on the server you can read it.
thursday 1
the recall sometimes work, sometimes don't. It's quite pleasurable to click on the recall message and seeing it disappear.
