This is how ridiculous the price of a Wanaka season pass has become.

Quote:
Canny southerners are going back to school to get cut-price season passes to the Treble Cone skifield.

The skifield's decision last year to raise prices for season passes has prompted Wanaka locals to exploit a loophole that gives students at the zero-fees Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) access to cut-price skiing.

As SIT students, they pay $399 for a ski pass, saving themselves a whopping $1300 for the season, The Press newspaper reported.

thanks for posting that Taka -this feild is very close to my heart- have worked there three seasons- when I was at Uni pass was 299 -that was the least and most I ever paid - these prices are criminal - The thing is in Wanaka not many "local" people will bat an eyelid - they will discuss it drinking $ 8 caffe lattes - but in an Aspen like way they will get demand for the sheer reason that they have the most expensive passes- Rich people are quite different from many of us on the forums !
