farquah 0
Really interesting set of photos showing the impact we have had on the earth and also some natural change. Photos 7, 8 and 9 are crazy. Fragile Earth
soubriquet 0
Thanks farquah. Very interesting. The last significant project I was involved in in Oz was using historic Landsat imagery to map deforestation across the country. The whole study was rendered utterly pointless because areas of forest subject to fire were excised from the time series. As most of Oz burns over 50 years or, the result will be meaningless. Why the study was designed that way, I don't know. It was publicly (taxpayer) funded though, so I suspect the pollies were keen to show a clean pair of hands. No deforestation here. Industry money was much cleaner. They wanted results for internal consumption, not political gain.
Oyuki kigan 0
the book "A Green History of the Earth" really opened my eyes as to what kind of impact we have been having since agriculture first came about and people settled down.
