soubriquet 0
Soubriquette and I had a rare two days off to party with a cake-making maestro friend of hers, up from Tokyo. We went to the Bay of Islands, Matsushima, in Miyagi. It's a tourist hot-spot, but well worth the visit if you are in the area. The hotel had an excellent rotenburo. View over the bay from our hotel. Geological note: acid tuff (explosive volcanism) Seagull following the boat. An island with holes. Geologist's wet dream. Acid tuff (right) unconformably overlain by basaltic lava (left). Wake riding Kite. Zuiganji temple. Temple set in a tranquill wood. Warm water under a red bridge (film reference). Oyster forest. Japanese red pines. The Bay of Islands has islands. AK 77 0
Lovely pictures! .... but isn't Matsushima actually just in Iwate? (belated Iwate pride - everyone laughs when I say I lived there, so got to claim this one for Iwate)
soubriquet 0
Nope. Definitely Miyagi. The Iwate boundary is about 40km north of Matsushima. I like Iwate, it doesn't make me laugh. And thanks.
