War crimes aren't soley the responsibility of the loosers.

Father-out-law was a baker in rural northern Japan. He didn't want to go to war and die in someone elses fight. The war took seven years out of his life including three spent in a Russian slave camp.

My father went to war in 1939 and came back in 1946 a stranger to his wife. When I worked in Germany the gateman was called up in 1938 and got out of prison in 1952. That was 14 years of his youth wasted. It's easy to judge but hard to resist when a gun is held to your head.

Which of these men are criminals?

Almost every nation has some shameful events in it's history, Australia included. These days kids in Australian schools are being taught a lot more about what really happened to the aborigines of this land when the white 'settlers came'. Most schools even fly the aboriginal flag.

These things need to be acknowledged.
