I went a few years back (the year Oasis and the Sterephonics were playing). Loved it. Memories of sitting in a field eating a kebab that was so hot it seemed to be buring the skin off my lips and swimming in the freezing river. There was a cool rocky horroresque London circus there too. I'm planning on MMT making his music festival debut next year... but perhaps without the kebabs!

Have fun skidaiski!

Advice: Using the keitai rechargers is a hassle cos of the waiting times so keep your it switched off to save the battery and make plans to check in with your friends at certain times of the day. Just turn it on at those times.

Get one of those blue tarps and hammer it down outside your tent, otherwise when you get back to your tent you won't be able to get in the door because someone else will be pitched on top of you.

Thanks me jane - good camping advice. I was there 2 years ago, but we were organised that time and stayed in a pension. No such luxury this time!

My main memory was drinking enormous quantities of beer and wandering around a lot. The music was pretty good, but simply talking to new people was the best thing. Keeping my keitai dry may be the issue...

why not get a emergency battery pack for your keitai? - they use AA batteries and you can pick them up at 100yen shops.. Easy peasy.

How long do those emergency battery packs last? I don't use them any more but when I used to, they would hardly last the night out if you made 2 or 3 calls. I suppose you could just take a load of AA batteries with you. I don't remember there being any convenience stores nearby but then I wasn't looking so might have missed them.

Well, I went, I saw, I enjoyed...

The Cure were excellent, Happy Mondays were shambolically brilliant and Ash haven't suffered as much as they might from losing a lead guitarist.

Surprise yesterday was Fermin Muguruza - an excellent ska / reggae band led by a Basque separatist-socialist. Not 100 percent on the politics, but no arguing with the tunes.

Only negative was having to pitch the tent on too much of a slope - there simply ain't enough flat land (yes, I know it's a ski-jo...). The weather was pretty good compared to previous years and I had lots of vodka and tonics
