skitoday 0
I would like to get up to Tateyama more often, but the price is killing me. Between the drive from Tokyo and the 9000 yen it takes for a round trip ticket to Murodo from Ogizawa. Thats one expensive lift ticket. The prices for lodging up there are outrageous so camping is the only option for me. Does anyone a more economical way to get to Murodo?
Fattwins 0
go up the gifu side. that said from tokyo you really cant do that.
skitoday 0
Yeah, I checked that way out already the drive to Toyama would be brutal in tolls.
Fattwins 0
unless you climb down from tateyama you will have to pay then. are you just going to ski? if so there are other places like norikura or hakuba that hold snow and are cheaper.
The Takayama Tearer 0
How about bus it to Takayama from Tokyo, then rent a car and drive straight up the 41 Toyama way? Rental might kill it, just a suggestion.
skitoday 0
Yes Im going for sking, I have skied Hakuba a number of times during the season. I wasn't aware it holds snow into the summer. How accessable are these areas? I have never heard of Norikura, I need to do some more investigating. Thanks for the suggestion Fattwins
Fattwins 0
norikura although not extreme holds snow into august or fall. hakuba can be skied if you hike the daiseki free: ( 3 to 5 hours of climbing then you have to climb to the lines. or tsugaike 2 to 3 hours climbing and you can find lines above there. about 3000 yen round trip on the gondie and tram. Hope this helps

I'm Sexy 0
I like Norikura. The snow there is usually good and it is not too busy.
merryJim 1
Just like to add to that - very lovely area and good onsen too. I was there last October and it was perfect weather when we were there. Really good few days.
big-will 7
I'm planning on taking a few days there in late July with a few friends. I have also heard good things about the area and I hear the snow is brilliant.
