I would like to get up to Tateyama more often, but the price is killing me. Between the drive from Tokyo and the 9000 yen it takes for a round trip ticket to Murodo from Ogizawa. Thats one expensive lift ticket. The prices for lodging up there are outrageous so camping is the only option for me.

Does anyone a more economical way to get to Murodo?

Yes Im going for sking, I have skied Hakuba a number of times during the season. I wasn't aware it holds snow into the summer. How accessable are these areas? I have never heard of Norikura, I need to do some more investigating. Thanks for the suggestion Fattwins

norikura although not extreme holds snow into august or fall. hakuba can be skied if you hike the daiseki free: ( 3 to 5 hours of climbing then you have to climb to the lines. or tsugaike 2 to 3 hours climbing and you can find lines above there. about 3000 yen round trip on the gondie and tram.

Hope this helps
