number9 0
They'll likely reschedule so that the few local trains connect smoothly with the few Shinkansens that stop at Itoigawa, should be good. Doh, just checked train schedules. It takes over an hour to get to Hakuba from Itoigawa. Bus from Nagano would still be faster.
misorano 1
The line down from Itoigawa is a very remote local line. They use Diesel wanman (one man) trains mostly. New Shink line is not gonna help Hakuba at all.
NoFakie 45
So tell me, my good man, is the new tunnel/bridge setup that goes alongside the Hokuriku expressway for the Shink? It looked like a super waste of time for the road. It probably is for the train too. It's the old seikatsu-no-kiban=money in LDP pockets broken record again. You don't see that many punters on the main train to Hakuba, the Azusa, so maybe we don't need the Shink either. The yakuba has a flag saying "Cut the journey time! Make the Azusa stop less!" that they unfurl on occasion, but JR pays no attention. I never get the train now, but its kind of spooky to be on a train when the tracks are completely covered with snow. It's well worth trying the once.
scouser 4
Those trains up to Hakuba aren't always packed then? Glad I'm not training it any more
igloo 3
Actually how about those small normal trains going north to Hakuba - are they always packed?
