ok Im trying to find one of 2 things.

 

how the heck to figure out where to get off in Nagoya? to then take the free road up to takeyama.

 

or

 

How to take the free road all the way to takeyama from kyoto.

 

Any help guys?

Ok, what road are you coming in on & where are you going? Takeyama? takayama? Mt. Tateyama?

My wife said from Nagoya on the free road to Tateyama, "mechya tooooiyo!"

takayama from kyoto staying at toques tonight in takayama

Could try this:

ROUTE 1 to Tehara

ROUTE 8 to Maibara

ROUTE 21 until you hit ROUTE 41.

Then 41 all the way to Takayama.

 

All free! Long trip.

from Kyoto get off at Komaki interchange and route 41 is right there..

I dont know if this helps, but this is a site were you can calculate the highway tolls.

that'd be saved just in tolls wouldn't it. The stopping and starting would end up costing you more than if you used the highway. I have no patience for normal roads these days!
