SerreChe 2 Posted October 29, 2005 Share Posted October 29, 2005 Very often when somebody is accused of a crime, instead of condemning that person right away we say that he deserves due process, meaning that we owe to that person a fair trial where every aspects are looked at so that he is not condemned wrongly. So think of: "due" = owed, deserved "process" = the process of checking everything before reaching conclusions. something like that... Link to post Share on other sites

It usually includes the assumption that a person is innocent until they are proved guilty. > "Scooter has worked tirelessly on behalf of the American people and sacrificed much in the service to this country," Bush said. "In our system, each individual is presumed innocent and entitled to due process and a fair trial." Maybe you remember Kono-san who was accused of being guilty of the Matsumoto Sarin Incident. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunitities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the EQUAL PROTECTION of the laws.
