snowzzang 0
How is Niseko in early April on average? My travel agent is trying to sell a April 1-5 package to Niseko. They're saying that 7 out of 10 cases, Niseko early April is no different from its February or March, i.e. powder. Only 3 out of 10 cases, you'll have to cope with spring snow. Is this true? Could someone who's been frequenting Niseko please enlighten me?
enderzero 0
I would say that signs point to the minority of cases this year. If you are getting a good deal and you are prepared for slush then go for it...but hoping for Feb pow conditions may be too optimistic.
IM 0
April is like Spring, no tourist, the town is pretty deserted. Some places(shops, restrants) are closed. Of course no lift lines. If you really want some soft snow, bowl at Yotei is still pretty good, except you have to hike for 5 hours. If you go expecting some good snow, 99 out of 100, you'd be disappointed. Markie 0
Well, I'm going to Kiroro in April and I guess the conditions will be similar to Niseko. I'm checking the snow levels everyday and am quite pleased to find that Kiroro is at 350cm, one of the top five in Japan. The most important thing for me is a good snow base. How slushy it is, will depend on the weather at the time, but a good base increases the chances that it will be good.

Markie 0
I agree with Dims even though I'm going. April will probably be very much different from February unless you are very lucky. Only go if you don't mind slush or you like to take risks.
snowzzang 0
Okay, from what i've seen here, i think i'll decide against it. When would you say would be the latest that you can ski Niseko under power conditions? Or is it too late?
