  1. P 10?? Only up to 4, here. I guess if you set the number of posts to the minimum, it could be up to 30 pages??

  3. Somewhat related, I object to the use of the "X is expected, at his press conference tomorrow, to announce nnn". This is not news, the press conference is irrelevant and the "news" item is pure speculation. Surely there is enough actual news to use, without making up stuff that might happen at a press conference to come later.
  4. Note the Falls Creek cap? Sorry, no mini skirts here (and no ewoks either ) Oh, and Old - yep, fat - not overly, tick infested - never had any, argumentative - there are those who say I am, but I dispute that ... git - NFI what that is!
  5. Waay too many to count! Like Soubs, I have a multi-drive setup, but I have a C: which is for OS and essential OSrelated files for applications, D: which is for the application files and some data (like downloads and such) then the net drive is for ALL data. A fairly large partition for my personal data, another big one for photos, and then smaller ones for the +1 and for files relating to the business I operate. This arrangement means that I can access the data from any of the 6 computers I have around the place, even the lappy which I'm using ATM, OR the desktop that is the "main"
  6. Yer right, didn't get there. IMHO, those sites are a pain in the @r$e. Stick with what you know works, with occasional tweaks, as you do. This is one of my "daily visit" sites, regardless of the season.
  7. It may be worth a bit of lateral thinking, here ... Who is set to gain most from their link exchange? I would envisage SJ getting a lot more hits from a link on their site than they would get from here. I may be wrong, it has happened in the past, but a heap of hits from their link to SJ might be of benefit to SJ, and by extension, to the Japanese snow industry as a whole. OTOH, I mightbe talking through my hat!
  8. soubs, I agree that whaling is unnecessary. I wonder how many Japanese actually eat whale meat? Any statistics on consumption? Mama, The animal on the Oz coat of arms is the kangaroo. From my perspective, in a regional area where the wild roos do untold damage to crops and feed, the commercialisation of them will do two things ... One, it will make them a resource to be husbanded and harvested, rather than just a bl00dy nuisance to be shot and left to rot. Two, it will restrict the amount of damage they do (and, incidentally, make the damage less burdensome to the cockies) to whe
  9. skidaisuki, While you are correct, I saw the graffiti and it did seem to be very much as if it were Aussi in origin. No way to be sure, agreed. second point - agree totally! Would love to have seen the idiot in process, might have given them something other than whales to think about for a bit!
  10. Sorry, dipping is NOT a viable alternative - only effective for a couple of weeks in dry times and way less in wet. And, the insecticides change the properties of the wool somewhat. In addition, the dips are a constant danger to both animals and humans. Fact is there are alternatives being worked on at the moment. PETA has been chasing around getting buyers to boycott Australian wool, in an effort to FORCE a change that was in the works anyway. Their timeframe is not realistic, given the need for the alternative to be designed, tested in the laboratory, then retested "in the wild". A

I'm sure the mulesing idea would have some appeal, then! Trouble with folks like PETA, their agenda is not transparent, but it involves the cessation of ALL 'use' of animals, fo
  12. Understand where you are coming from, Mama. Falling on ice ain't fun, no matter what you've been riding. I think the radiographer was saying use the fist rather than the palm. It is better suited to absorb the impact (whether nice soft pow or Oz ice or anything between)
  13. thurs, As an aussie, I and my mates were in gondolas at Kamui. We saw the graffiti and agree it is outrageous. It should not have ever been done and I would hate to think that all Aussies are damned by what has appeared to be done by a couple (at most). On the other matter, it is Kiwis that shag sheep, not Aussies. Not sure where the mothers thing comes from. And, our youth do a damn fine job of graffitiing our own place, don't need anyone else to do it. If I could only catch them, I'd kick their ar$e until their nose bled! Please, please, please do not judge the lot of u
  14. Mantas, Hear, hear! At least the posts I make actually get here! I've had no end of trouble with another forum I inhabit with posts either being duplicated or not listed. No middle ground.
  15. Good for a laugh, though! "OOps, my wrist was not meant to say that!" Better still, learn to punch the snow when ya fall rather than put the flat of your palm down first. That was the advice from the radiographer at Jindabyne, anyway.
  16. No Idea what I'm doing here, I fail BOTH criteria. Definately NOT a girl (some might say I ski like one, but failed the medical) Definitely not a boarder. Whatever floats your boats, girls.
  17. Sorry, your earlier post made me think you were quite blase about security. Cheers.

This is when the virus writers use the fact that ALL security is reactive, by definition, and use the window of opportunity thus created bet
  19. Yeah, but at least we spend a lot less time on our @r$e on slope, though. My +1 did a scaphoid a few years back, it was described as "boarder's break" - most commonly because the boarders tend to fall with palm to snow (unless taught better habits) rather than with the fist. Anyway, let's not get into a slanging match, each to their own. Hey!
  20. Used to have on Mama, but spent Waaay too much time cleaning it and not enough time swimming in it! Seeme to me (as the nominated pool cleaner ofthe family) that every b****y tree for miles around sent their leaf litter to my pool for swimming/sogging lessons. I was so pleased when the house was sold and I moved (minus family, as it happens, too) into a place sans pool. Far rather use the public pool, where someone else is paid to do the worrying about safety, cleaning the pool and mowing the grass around it. My2c
  21. I would question whether it is any worse to eat food after working at a desk without washing. Whether using a keyboard or not, the office abounds in germs and you should wash your hands before stuffing food in your face. I would caution smokers too, but they are so unconcerned with their health that a few extra germs might just rid us of them, so they don't matter. What difference with a keyboard? You don't go around licking them, do you? We are breeding a generation of wusses, people who fall ill at the first sight of a germ. Natural resistance to most common germs is built up by l
  22. Point is not so much "never had it happen" (as I have never had that sort of disaster strike, either) but more that the potential is so much greater with IE because - it is the dominant browser - it is tightly integrated into the O/S - it CANNOT be removed or O/S functionality disappears - it is seen as a "legitimate" target by those clowns who write worms/viruses/trojans etc. - it has well known (and a growing list of) vulnerabilities, many of which are fixed by MS patches and automatic updates, but some of which never get installed by users who turn off auto update and don't bot
