  2. lol,it is a pretty obscure text. WE studied it in art theory and postmodernism etc..
  3. I saw those pics, tubby. Where is that beach? They looked like good waves. Must have been after a typhoon. Does it get that big very often? Spook. I spent a couple of seasons in west oz at the bluff and down the south-west. i love that place. 3 Bears before the doctor blew in was my favourite consistent spot, (during summer)
  4. yes, tubby, that would would be Plato's Cave. A very instructive allegory..
  5. no because i am here thinking, therefore there is something. It is a pretty hard concept to get your head around. I cannot even begin to imagine it. sorry, nada, got nothing, lol. I have thought about the concept that there is no design in it all. That it is all chaos. All is random. That is a pretty liberating thinking process.
  6. yes, bobby, it could be only a figment of our imagination. That is a possibility. its all just a dream. ??? or god created it all in seven days.. ???
  7. *waves to mantas* Yes, the water is just lovely now. When the noreasters start blowing it will get cold again.. brrr..
  8. I just had a surf this afternoon. It was only small and pretty windy but it is great to get out in the water.
  9. Nah, any half sane human must think about why we are here and how it all came about. I do and have no answers whatsoever - only awe and wonder.
  10. Yep, that is perfectly ok to do. You can even eat in public and no-one cares. Walk down the street eating a pie or whatever, no problemo.
  11. I just found some photos/slides from out the back of hakuba. afaik. Dont know where or who. http://www.flickr.com/photos/miya_snowboard/sets/72057594126920992/show/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/miya_snowboard/tags/%E7%AB%8B%E5%B1%B1/show/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/miya_snowboard/sets/881725/show/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/miya_snowboard/tags/%E5%94%90%E6%9D%BE%E5%B2%B3/show/ there is some pretty awesome country there..
  12. 70 gb, 30gb, and 180 gb. how many is that? nearly 300gb in total. Most of it what i have on them is junk and i should clean them up.. Plus a lot of that was video so you do not need a lot.. a couple of hundred should be sufficient for most users or even less than a hundred.. --
  13. thanks sm. easy turning and more float are good things. ..
  14. dumb noob question. Why do some powder skis have twin tips/ rounded tails? Is there a reason?
  15. the weeks happy 7 sounds good as well as the 3day happo pass. combined with the goryu/47 5day weekday pass, that should sort me out.. thank you.. I will be bringing skis and snowboard. I am learning snowboarding so will go to goryu/47 and snowboard when the pulvershchnee aint dumping and then get on the skis when it dumps and learn how to ski powder.. It is a bit hard learning in oz, seeing we get stuff all.. lol..
  16. domo, $480 is cheap compared to oz. My perisher season pass cost me $1200 (ish) a five day weekday pass for goryu/47 costs Y15,000 which is about the best value.
  17. Thank you one and all. It seems like it is best to just play it by ear and go where the action is.. I will suss it out when i get there, i think.
  18. hmm never thought of that. thanks. What are point tickets?
  19. I know there is a combined goryu and 47 lift pass. Are there lift passes that encompass all or more of the areas in hakuba? (+happo one, e.g.) I did a search but i could not find the information. The early bird season pass for goryu/47 for 48,000 sounds alright. But would i get bored with just those two resorts? If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great, thanks.
  20. thanks wise one. I will certainly look into it. hakyubin (black cat) from the airport takes two days to hakuba..
  21. Isnt there a huge fault line running right through the japanese alps area? And hasnt it already slipped sideways or up and down? From recollections i think that half of honshu slipped sideways. i forget where i read it.. edit: i found this.. It seems it runs from around nagano to shizuoka (ish) http://glgarcs.lad.jp/geology_tectline.html
  22. ha ha ha Little Britain is hilarious. I nearly always wet myself when i watch it.. Most people i know think that it rocks! "I'm a lady"
