Hi, back with another beginner question. I'm convinced that I saw a thread comparing different packs when I joined last year but I can't find it for the life of me... Anyway, as mentioned in another thread am looking to get into BC this year, will probably be restricting myself to daytrips this year, would probably want to use the pack inbounds occasionally so nothing so enormous that it wouldn't fit on a chair even when lightly filled. Would anyone care to guess how long it would take to drive from Tokyo to Togakushi? I'm thinking very early morning saturday start to avoid any traffic. I tried to find an online car navigation-like tool but came up short, so if anyone knows if one exists that would be just as good. Thanks!

I was there a couple of weeks ago and it sounded reasonably crisp, although it didn't seem that they had them turned up to full volume (fine by me).

I have to say that I noticed this quite a bit since coming to Japan... maybe it was just because before I came to Japan I was a student, so I would loads of free time to see my friends most days, but sometimes when I go to birthday parties there are people who are like - "when was the last time I saw you? This time last year?/That wedding 2 years ago?" and stuff like that. To be perfectly honest I don't think I would bother if we weren't good enough friends to meet up even a little more regularly. Maybe that's just what happens as the years go by, hope not...

I have always been curious... how do you write this particular "tateyama" in Japanese? Is it just the regular 立山 ? There are so many Tateyamas around Japan that I never know which one you guys are always talking about...

Actually, do you know of any good guides (in print or online) for doing that kind of tuning? I have never tried to do anything myself, although I guess it's a good opportunity to learn.

Having some problems finding the 07 in 183. Can't really afford to go with the 08 model right now. That leaves me with the 176. I think I'd probably be very happy with this but posts like Samurai's do make me wonder... Any other recommendations in a similar style that I might be able to find in a slightly bigger length? Obviously the searching's my problem but if I widen my choice then I'm more likely to find something in a longer length.
