  1. I predict Pie Eater will be hammering this thread if England get in the final.
  2. Going on current form New Zealand should take it out, but that hasn't helped them in the last 5 campaigns.. The world cup is up grabs for any team that can put it all together and rise to the occasion. It's hard to imagine not seeing them there in the final in their home country though. All Blacks Vs Wallabies final
  3. She could probably go a year without eating and still survive.
  4. It's less than a month to go until the start of the Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand with most countries having already announced their teams, some arriving as early as next week. Anyone care to make any predictions at this early stage?
  5. Quote: 'Two years ago I hit 35 stone because I was losing my battle against weight gain,’ she said. ‘I noticed I actually started attracting more men, and it made me feel good.’ There you go girls. Just keep yourselves under 35 stone and men will be swooning all over you.
  6. Even a 'minor' riot in the UK would upstage anything we've ever experienced here. Things are a lot better here than they were 5-10 years ago, when racial and social tensions were high in a few places, thanks to a lot of effort made by communities and governments. I was encouraged to see the government finally consented to a full public inquiry into the riots after much pressure from the coalition. Comments bordering on denial certainly portray an attitude of indifference to the problem.

A march organised by the ANLthe SWP and Militant resulted in riots against the Metropolitain police. The 1995 Brixton riot against the Metropolitan Police occurred after a death in police custo
  8. I wasn't refering to you Muika. This article in the Guidian says it all. Other comparable cities like New York, Stockholm, Sydney ... have wealthy people, but not as many wealthy people as London," said Dorling. "There is an inbuilt bias towards inequality in UK society today. Add to that David some David Cameron quotes Multiculturalism has failed. There are pockets of our society that are not just broken but frankly sick. It is clear that there are things that are badly wrong with our society. I think my comments were pretty mild compared to his but as an Australian app
  9. Just repeating the words of your PM mate. And who said anything about 'racial and social dispariies'? Say it for yourself if that's what you think. Don't try and make it sound like it come from me. Little bit sensitive are we?
  10. Sorry David Cameron. Could've been worse. I could've said John Major.
  11. Seemore has a point though. The 'us and them' mentality is a direct product of the 'sick' society than Gordon Brown talks about. London has the greatest disparity of wealth distribution of any city in Europe. Until these issues are addressed the problem is not going to go away no matter how hard the police crack down is. The response by the police was necessary though to maintain order and it's the duty of any state to do that to keep the citizens safe. Geez,.. what a basket case British society has become.

  13. I was listening to the PM's speech on how he was going to get 'tough' on these rioter and start using water cannons. Water cannons??? How about some real cannons.
  14. Either that or they have trashed all the TV and newspaper offices. WARNING !!

It's only a small part of a much broader problem but it typifies the cultural attitude of these thugs. Gansta rap is like a mantra to them. I could just imagine these hooded clown listening to Dogg Pound singing "Nigga, I buy new blocks for war A few shots, a broad, that make you drop Then I'ma pop two
  16. Quote: They probably wont be looking at video games... well not until they look at aspirations, poverty, relative opportunity, access to facilities, community relations, policing, family, schooling and everything else you have to look at on sink estates All but a handful of countries in the world have these issues. So what inspires these UK kids to behave with such disrespect and violence?

Total anarchy! Classy - blaming porn, violent video games, movies and music.
  18. " It's all about having fun and showing the police that we can do what we want" A comment from a young female looter interviewed. WTF is going on in these young people's heads!

  21. Unbelievable! Puts a lot of meaning into the saying 'The thin blue line' BTW. Where is the army?
  22. I thought cops in the UK didn't carry guns.
  23. People from poor, rough parts of any city, in any country feel disconnected and rejected from the rest of society IMO. I'm sure that they have justified it in their own minds that anything they do in rebellion against the 'system' is OK and the system's laws don't apply to them. Western societies are a basket case these days. Too much liberty. A similar thing happened in Western Sydney a few years ago and who could forget the LA riots?
