  1. damn. my gf needs to buy a ticket to Thailand today, so I called No1 for quotes yesterday - they seemed ok value, and cheaper than the internet, but it sucks to know that you might be being chanrged more than necessary... in unregulated countries one expects sharks and cheats... but in travel agencies in the UK it makes NO difference what nationality you are. that is just f#ed. spud - your arguament would make sense if HIS charged higher accross the board, for their service of English speaking staff, but to offer different prices to different nationalities based on their PREDICTED
  2. I've got some old Nike ACG bib pants from 6 years ago (on sale in Japan!) that are the spitting image of those Ronin bibs! It's quite funny if you get the matching jackets and pants - but two major faults: 1) you gotta throw down if you're gonna front that kind of look - everyone's going to be judging 2) it's way too much money for a joke! better to find a real retro fluro suit for like 5000 yen!
  3. that would be cool! My HellyH jacket is more sponge than Jacket now (as well as being perhaps the dirtiest jacket on the hill!) so a jacket is the only major expenditure on the horizon for next year... (why do I doubt that will be the case? ...)
  4. wow, that's quite a big difference! Is it that much this year too? I ownder if it's also evident on the 'cool' lines like Ronin? yay! for living in japan. all i need now is some money... Have you seen the retro aqua andneon that is this year's flagship ronin colourway? yikes!

You must be loving the jp prices compared to the uk then. mostly they seem about the same, but I'm a cheapskate poor person so I never buy stuff at retail anyway! either 40 to 50 % off at local shop in the UK, or the Helly Hansen outlet shop, or end of season sales... I wish Mtn brands would make a simple shell with a more generous cut, that wouldn't ride up with the twisting of snowbaording - their snow-skirts are always too high up. Or maybe my trousers are too far down! ha.
  6. that's european-wide price, just currency converted to help my brain

I switch from Euros to pounds on Blue Tomato, as 50 quid is a man pretty much: this years AK 2L is 241.47 (just under 5 man) last years was 227.67, now reduced to 159.37. not super cheap, but nearly 2 man less than this year's

[/QB] Go for that then! I like Burton stuff as it's cut really well for riding, and you know you're getting quality, but only in end of season sales / proform if i was lucky in the UK. Not full price! Do patagonia make ski and / or snowbaord specific jackets?
  9. by the way, what size are you? 'cos they've got last year's AK 2L jacket in Large on Blue Tomato for 230 euros which is about 31,000 yen. It looks better than this year's as all the pockets are flush. Plus it's in 2L gore (30,000 water, 20,000 breath) soft denim!! so you can laugh at all the shiny skiers! http://www.blue-tomato.at/ProductDetailAction.bto?detailText=DHgs0W1rSn5QEBWgen8Aie-1
  10. Quote: Originally posted by Kumapix: but unless i can get a proform I will prob just get patagonia ha ha, which is an admission that Burton stuff is overpriced, especially in Japan! Does that mean you can butter up some j-mates that work in a shop here? just teasing. The 3L looks way better if you are going to wear a pack most of the time - don't worry about the weight - 3L is heavier (whichever brand is sewing it together) but it is tougher and will stay dry longer (not an issue if it's cold and dry, but important over a season over heavy use, and if it is wet snow / rain). 11. did think of that - for the kitch value! any recommendations then?
  12. Does anyone know a good (and cheap!) ryokan in central Tokyo, or with easy access to central Tokyo??? I just tickets for the Studio Ghibli museum for Saturday, so am going to see Tokyo on Sat evening / Sun. with my girlfriend before she flies back to the UK on Monday. Any recommendations???
  13. Quote: Originally posted by Fattwins: i got a nice Bday present all classes canceled after the 2 weeks from hell. that was quietly slipped in there... HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I'll email you the snaps of the tent, thanks, it was fine - I put a mat underneath all of it, and mats inside so it was well protected. There was a clear view all the way to Fuji from Tsubakuro!
  14. All in the house: - clothes hanging up (sorely in need of a wash and re-waterproof) - boards leaning against the wall in back room, bindings all set and ready... looking at a board that is not set up right is just stinky. - boots, googles, etc all take a large bookshelf (I don't have enough books!) There's no way I'd leave them in a shed...
  15. nakata pretty much single handedly showed japanese kids that it was possible to be a professional football player, at international level, and by doing so dragged the whole standard of the Japanese team up with him. I don't think anyone can criticise him for quitting now! He is kind of a one-man older generation, and if the younger guys aren't stepping up and surpassing him, then why should he keep punishing himself at that level? plus he always seemed like a decent guy on TV
  16. damn... I'm looking like a fool again - I just replied to a post from way back... remind me always to refresh the page before replying. oops
  17. beat me to it, serre che. was going to guess that it would be dede rehm and jerome ruby! only ever read about them in magazines - the photos were always so sick, you would be twisting the page thinking "It can't be THAT steep", except it was! nutters. in the 'highly experienced mountain guide' sense of the word. shame about dede.
  18. that's beautiful! are the mountain huts expensive to stay in? (are they the self-catering, bring your sleeping bag type?)
  19. oops. double post. I'm not a retard, the first one didn't show up.

  22. Quote: Originally posted by Ewok 2: hmmm.. don't remember but they seemed v. happy. whats new ak, got anything new on your ipod. other than step by step lol. Hi ewok! I'm ok. My gf is over here at the moment, some stuff to sort out, but not in public on here! I just stole the whole of EBC's itunes - so I have plenty of new stuff! I'm making a playlist of all her best girly pop hits - for snowboarding to next season. obviously. Just cos I've got lots of new tunes doesn't mean I'll be turning my back on the Backstreet Boys though! just typing that made me laugh! nice
