Those of you living in Japan, who do you use when you travel overseas? The places at the local HIS won't cover us because we have a one way ticket to Aus, not a return ticket coming back into Japan... Also, I need some decent coverage for my camera gear. Many packages have limited payout of 500 bucks per item which won't get near covering my lenses and camera itself, not to mention my laptop. Anyone had to deal with this before?

Mate, that sucks... Hope she gets through it all well.

Indo, it is valid as long as you have a valid re-entry permit, which effectively means you have to come back every 3 years minimum to renew that. That there is one piece of BS that they need to scrap!

You can apply at any time before the visa expire Bobby12, but you should allow at least 6 months before it expires. Two guys I work with got theirs after the first 3 year spouse visas. No probs.

Example of typical Japanese racism
bushpig replied to Go Native's topic in General off-topic discussions
I agree in very general terms CB, but I do know a lot of Japanese who do have common sense (and not in the sense of 常識). And I know a whole lot more who have none of it! But lets not go branding an entire country with a trait that may be quite common. -
Please explain?

Yeah, that is a bloody stupid comment to air and the editor should have screened that out. -

While I agree with some of what you are saying, I don't think it is quite as bad as all that. In any case, do you remember the Sara Blackman case? That got much more coverage than these Okinawa cases ever get. To me all this all proves is that certain stories are deemed more sensational. In the Sara Blackman case it was a young foreign lady (and likely others) drugged and murdered by a seedy Japanese guy. The media went to town on it! -

Aside from this debate over the definition of racism, and getting back to the original point, It seems to me there are 2 points to consider here. 1. You can't compare the handling of this particular case in the media to the okinawa case(s). Why? Because the okinawa case needs to be seen in the wider perspective and context of all the continual crimes (however small or large) that have been committed by the US military in Okinawa over a long period of time. It isn't so much the outrage over a single crime but over the perceived continuing trend over a long period. An actual study of real c -

I took my first stack on the kickers for the season on Sunday. Ended up upside down and pretty much landed on my head and upper back! It felt like slow motion, but BPG got it on video! Here it is http://www.snowjapan.tv/view_video.php?viewkey=4717e0b1f21d122e0452 -
