  2. Don't leave boots near somewhere that gets too hot (i.e. a cupboard that gets direct sunlight in the summer) - trust me
  3. Anybody know of any decent (i.e. cheap ) online jap ski shops?
  4. does anybody have online articles about what's happening to some of these resorts?
  5. what about for ski jumpers? i can jump a bit, but not any tricks (my mind doesn't want to do two things at one time)... fattwins just said to keep the weight centred, I'm not sure if he's talking about skiing or boarding, but for skiing I keep my weight forward and try to have my skiis parallel (roughly) with the landing area, but the tips landing slightly before the tails...
  6. yeah, i think going around ropes isn't so bad... one time in nz (mt hutt) i accidentally went over an edge into a 'closed' section that wasn't even roped off and got told off by a liftie..
  7. the main things that i've noticed, primarily from my gf and sister but other people too: a) girls tend to enjoy skiing more for skiing rather than to have got down a certain run speed is often more enticing than steeps c) generally a bit more timid/less stupid than guys (as you mentioned) d) tend to underestimate their ability a bit more (related to c)
  8. When I first was learning to ski in NZ, I would see tracks running down the hill in a perfectly straight line, but slowly getting bigger... took me a while to realise what it was from

  10. I'm looking for somebody to whom ask a whole lot of hakuba questions, from ski conditions to nearby pachinko access etc. If somebody has a bit of free time and wouldn't mind answering some, would they please pm me? p.s. I pmed a few people asking if they would mind me asking a few questions, sorry !
  11. This is probably a really silly question, but anyhow: For those of you that hike up backcountry, what do you wear on your feet while hiking? ski/snowboard boots?
  12. I had heard that quite a few instructors used the iSL, wasn't really sure why though, is it just a really nice turner on trail?
  13. not completely unrelated to my previous post, has anybody had any experience with the head i.XRC 1100?
  14. thanks fattwins! you're the best** -- ** - pending outcome of skis
  15. Hi, I picked up a pair of ex rental head IM70s a short while ago which I plan to take to Niseko (as yet another Aussie), the only thing is that I just noticed that the top sheet is starting to come loose a bit near the tip of the ski. Is this ultra bad? I've talked to a few people, and they suggested just putting some epoxy resin and clamping the top sheet and the base so that water/snow doesn't go in. Thanks
