Snow in Japan
me jane replied to jeanniel's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Glad you are okay Ewok. There are some crazy people on the roads. One of my old students hit an old man who pulled out from a side road right in front of her. He died on impact. It was years ago but she got very upset telling me the story. The man's family met her and told her it was not her fault and that they had been telling him for years to give up his car but it doesn't change the fact that she has to live with it forever. -
Interesting thread this. Me Tarzan and I have also discussed Australia (10 years or so down the road). He loves the water and hot weather so it would be perfect for him. I quite like the idea of Canada but if if I'm getting to live in a "Western-culture", English speaking country then we need some kind of compromise. Australia seems like it would have something that suits us both. The things that put me off are 1. that it's so far from the UK for visiting family and stuff and 2. the monster insects. I love hiking and the mountains and the one time I went in Austalia, we were woken up by

Expensive For the baby swim class (only time they are allowed in the pool) up to 16 times a month with any adult (I mean MMT is the member not me so it doesn't matter if different people go with him) it costs 8190/month. Might only be for a few months until he gets into Hoikuen though.

Found this story this morning: Quote: A Polish man got the shock of his life when he visited a brothel and spotted his wife among the establishment's employees. Polish tabloid Super Express said the woman had been making some extra money on the side while telling her husband she worked at a store in a nearby town. "I was dumfounded. I thought I was dreaming," the husband told the newspaper on Wednesday. The couple, married for 14 years, are now divorcing, the newspaper reported. Even without considering about the discounts - it's worth it just not having to stop at the toll gates.

Thanks for all the opinions. I guess it looks like I'll have to get the card. I wouldn't have minded so much if they had allowed other types of direct payment but after all the admin, entry and insurance fees I just felt I'd given them enough without subscribing to their credit card. I ended up telling them I would have to ask my husband and they let me pay cash for the first month. I want to use that gym for MMT cos I already have free membership there from work and it's only about 5 mins from my house.

Tried to enroll Mini Me Tarzan at the gym today for swimming lessons and they told me that I had to pay monthly by credit card and that I couldn't pay by cash. Also, not just any credit card but that I had to apply for one of their credit cards and the monthly fee would be deducted from that card. The card doesn't have any annual fees but I still don't see how that can be legal. What's wrong with cash? Anyone know if it's legal or not?

Okay, I'll change the poll to numbers and everyone will have to look at Thursday's list to choose! ...It didn't work. No place to edit the poll. SJ4 emailed me yesterday and said he would ask one of the other SJ-boys today so I'll just wait a bit and see if they get time to figure it out. -

Funny Mantas, I was actually thinking of doing the same thing! We need something to argue about though... How does it work? When we feel a fight coming on do we put a link to this thread and let rip in here?

Okay, lets sort this out -
Takkubin is also availble at almost every hotel and most convenience stores for getting your stuff back to the airport. The two main companies are Kuro Neko Yamato and Sagawa. Look out for them at the airport or show this to someone. There are maps of where they are in the airport here: Narita Airport baggage delivery You don't REALLY need to Takkubin your stuff but it's so cheap and makes things much easier, especially if you are travelling by yourself. A lot of train stations have loads of steps and no escalators or elevators. There will get your stuff

Hey Al Sounds like a great plan! You don't have PM's yet so I'm posting here. Email the SJ Admin and ask them to turn on PM's for you if you want to get in touch. I don't know if it would fit in with your dates but my mum is coming to visit in March and I'm taking her to see the snow monkeys in Shiga Kogen (Nagano). We are driving up from Tokyo on either March 11th or 25th depending on another couple of friends who are coming over to visit. Anyway if you can handle a car full of Welsh people and the dates happen to work, you're welcome to a ride up. Post your dates when you are deci
