it was taken a day or two after the avalanche. (raicho is the slope with the slide on the left.) looks like there was another slide on the next slope over, but no reports of any injuries on that one -

yakushima was sweet! 3 days of sunshine and hiking in the great outdoors. ianbc, no mt. biking on yakushima except if you wanna ride concrete around the island with all the motorcyclists! -

bushpig,thx for asking. it was the best snowboarding of my life. pc at home has crashed when i fix it i'll put up some pics. cb, pmed you, cheers! let's meet up in kyushu. i won't go to tateyama this year, ebc. too far in such a short amount of time there's always next time -

looks like a shallow slope but i know the slopes you ride who is that? sic pic! -
start off on empty beginner slopes and think about your technique. then do the same on intermediate, then advanced slopes. keep skiing w/ people better than u

does this mean beacon: 電波発信装置? i think so Out of the older group, 2 of 4 had them, and 1 had a shovel. didn't say if anyone in the 34-year-old's group of 6 had beacons...so are we to assume that they didn't have them? http://www2.knb.ne.jp/news/20070418_11043.htm 20 cms of fresh fell on the 17th which apparently slid. kuma, which article did you read? -

sad. one avie-aware person in tateyama is saying, if i'm getting the japanese correctly, that foehn winds winds may have caused a steep temperature gradient on the 13th and created the weak layer(s) that went yesterday. http://www2.knb.ne.jp/news/20070418_11048.htm -

awesome weekend. happo-one on sun w/ kuma, ft, and kuma's friend sugi. i still have a headache and a sore throat. just pushed it. my pc at home crashed yesterday, so no pics from me for a while. leaving for ak tomorrow...rain in the forecast for girdwood -
