Interesting NPO/ NGO Projects- Help needed
Oyuki kigan replied to farquah's topic in General off-topic discussions
Hell, you can do a report on me and my friends who are trying to raise awareness as skiers and snowboarders about Global Warming here in Nagano. We are holding events and distributing flyers and stuff. But i think you guys want something more exotic than that. Its not in an exotic locale either, but how about Food Not Bombs? They've been around for a long while, but are doing great work in a number of countries. -

There is no sustainable way to eat the amount of tuna Japan does, unless the rest of the world wants to forgo their share for the sake of Japan's kaiten sushi. But back to the original post, how about contacting an NGO that works with prostitutes in Thailand or somewhere lese in Asia? Japan is one of the main consumers of this type of 'service', and while you may be able to keep the blatently obvious out of the doc, i think it would be good for Japanese people to see what the girls (and boys) are going through. -
i7Ve been beard-farming since November, and have a very mellow hollywoodian, but the klingon is looking pretty fun. I might try that. Also, the 'Friendly Mutton Chops' is also known as 'The Lemmy'.

Board Wax Question
Oyuki kigan replied to Tubby Beaver's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Oh, one quick update about scraping, I got up to Hakuba on Monday, and didn't have time to scrape the end-of-season wax i put on to keep my base from drying out over the summer. I seriously spent about only 30 seconds scraping the rougher bits, and the board took faster Micheal Jackson at a shogakko sports festival -

To bad they have applied this to the world of snowboarding and skiing.

How ever did i miss the genius of MC Paul Barman until now? "My dandy voice makes the most anti-choice granny's panties moist" -

Either that or having to wear the uniform and 'train' with other instructors. Which also preludes one from riding in the trees, and might look silly riding in the park. The uniforms are bright red. And i don't have a problem with helping out and teaching every once in a while on a day off if they are seriously understaffed, but not being able to ride freely on my own time? This is what one of the head instructors wrote me ãã‚Œã¨å‹¤å‹™ã—ã¦ã„ã‚‹æ—¥ã«ãƒ¬ãƒƒã‚¹ãƒ³ãŒãªã„時もユニフォームã§æ»‘ã£ã¦ã„ãŸã ãã“ã¨ã«ãªã£ã¦ã„ã¾ã™ã€‚ã“ã‚Œã¯æ—¥æœ¬ã§ã¯å¤šã„パターンã ã¨æ€ã„ã¾ã™ã€‚

Board Wax Question
Oyuki kigan replied to Tubby Beaver's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I did have trouble sliding if i didn't scrape it at all, but now i just give it a very quick scrape to remove the bumpiest parts, and it rides fine. -

But i expect my free time to be my own, and to be sufficiently compensated for the job i do. Instructing does not pay much, so there has to be the side benefit of a lift ticket to make it reasonable (unless you are Japanese, i suppose).

Well, then of course the answer to that is to not give passes to staff, because obviously they will be willing to pay for lift tickets on their days off with the crap salary. I had no idea that it was so poorly run, but the more i hear about it (from Hakuba locals) the less inclined i am to go there.

Board Wax Question
Oyuki kigan replied to Tubby Beaver's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
also, i don't scrape the board that much. I wax it, let it cool. and just take out the big bumps with a scraper, i leave a pretty thick layer on. -

Yeah, some companies are making it now. One ball Jay, Bluebird, and others. Although, i hear they are made from GMO soy, so its not really 'environmental'. It also depends on the chemicals they put in it. I use one called Hillbilly, out of Canada, and its 100% biodegradable and safe. No toxins. And it works fine. i don7t know if i would race on it, but my board goes just fine. -

Plus, the ticket is marks you as an instructor, and i wouldn't doubt it if the checked the records tomake sure you weren't riding on your time off. I should note, the one guys said that they have 10 comp tickets that they give to guests, friends, people taking badge tests, whatever, and if there are any left over on a particular day, i
