Pulled this off a "niseko now" report.... Sunday 23rd January 2005, 9:41AM Not much snow fall overnight. Powder run are pretty much tracked out, however still soft and deep. Watch out steep open faces like Higashi-one as it is still unstable and has high risk of avalanche. Snow in the trees is nice. Wherabouts is Higashi-one? I did a search for it on google and came up with other Higashi-ones??

Give me the lowdown! I've been doing some searches on google and on this website and have come up with hardly anything. I remember www.boardtheworld.com did a feature on it awhile ago but after they rebuilt their website it doesnt seem to be there anymore.

Wondering this myself.... although i really need to know where the best places are in sapporo for snowboarding equip.

why didnt i think of that! Seriously though, i did contact niseko chalets ( previous leasee of the lodge ) and they are not handling it next year. I have been checking out lodge uranaka and it looks ok, has anybody stayed there? What did you think?

Hey there, Does anyone know who is running niseko lodge this coming winter? Any good suggestions for hirafu accom would be greatly appreciated!

Is there any rule of thumb in japan... ie do northern resorts have a longer season, or the other way round for that matter. I was thinking of going to niseko from round the 7th march until 17th but am holding out to suss out how feb goes!

If you just got your board make sure the edges are detuned as well!

Have you always noticed this or is it only with this board? I had similar problem with the heel edge catching on the flats resulting in some nasty pound yer ass in the ground spills! I managed to overcome this by making sure i dont allow myself to look around too much as the board seems to go wherever you look,also make sure you stay in a nice squat to keep your centre of gravity low and keep you weight more towards the rear but even between your toes and heels so as to make sure your not inadvertantly turning the board when you dont want to. This was my problem but yours may be something diff

My girlfreind and i just spent 2 weeks at Hirafu over the new year and loved it. We are planning on spending 3 months there jan,feb,march `05 and am looking for any advice on accommadation. Does anyone know any contacts where i could find out some deals? I am wary of booking through a travel company as they could be a rip off! My girlfreind will be a qualified english teacher and is interested in doing some conversational english work whilst we are there,is it possible to pick up short term work in this area or are longer contracts usually required? Hi guys, I will be going to Niseko for the first time this december/jan (the 20th to 4th jan) I was toying with the idea of buying a digital camcorder for the trip but i was wondering if anyone could advise me if it would be better to wait and buy it in Japan and if so can anyone reccomend some possible places to check out whilst im in Sapporo? Thanks heaps!
