  2. He's a guy from the UK though That's expected Just do it and get it over with

I really wanted to get one of those chutes. Mainly the middle one that you speak of. Just a little narrow at the bottom which would have been fun. Had I not been alone I would have skinned up for another go. I was a little nervous as the traverse on to the ridge went over the slide debris from a fracture right along the cliff faces.
  4. Whitewater And then today Skinned up to the top of Red. It was hard. But made it up there in just over 2 hours. So many short 10-20 second breaks. Snow was horrible. I was hoping that at least up high it would be packed powder. NOPE. Breakable crust the entire 1000meters of vert getting way worse at the bottom. Pretty much just traversed back and forth with kick turns to go the other way.
  5. Remember to pick up some glopstopper for your skins if you don't already own some I'll let you know when I know
  6. Before we make any real plans I have to get my scedule for the new year I don't have as many courses so that is a plus And that is before my practicum starts as well But if I am free then lets ski Hey are you skiing or snowboarding for this course?
  7. Crude bit of sarcasm I'll admit I though it was something like this This is how much Hawaiians like skiing
  8. It looks like we might be able to swing something Depends on my course scedule though

Aftre the course do you wanna swing by and met up for two days of touring? It would be a Monday and Tuesday. When are we talking here?
  10. My day today Did 3 laps at Whitewater almost getting 1000m vert. Got there early before the crowds. Maybe 10-12 cars in the parking lot when I left at 12. Lots of kids building jumps and lots of backcountry skiers. This was my second run. The first I was a little unsure of the snow pack so skied into the bowl through thick trees just to the right. It was stable so skinned back up and skied this line. The snow was great. A firm carvable base. Even though that is a huge boulder field at the bottom I never scraped the bases up
  11. I don't own guns nor does anybody in my immediate family. I don't think I will ever own a gun. And I don't see the reason for owning a load of guns even if it is for self defense. MSP - Ski Movie Chris Davenport, Johnny Mosely have a shooting competition with a high powered rifle. First they shoot the hat off of Seth Morrison's head, then shoot Shane McKonkey off of a moving sled. They then together shoot Aaron McGovern who is skiing down a rige and then rag-dolls down the mountain. It was funny. I know. Big contradiction
  12. how are they dickheads? they aren't flipping off anybody or getting all drunk in a bar Just having some fun while backcountry camping and filming Who here hasn't on a couple occasions thrown fuel into a fire while in the BC just for the fun of it I've had my fair share of white gas explosions
  13. Quote: Originally posted by spook: if it's not another question about niseko, it's a thread dissolving into nationalistic bashing. yaaaaawwwwnnn. I enjoy this one much more I thought it was funny and on reflection I enjoy a good joking when I'm in the mountains. They were just having a few laughs in the BC. Ian was right. That headcam footage was sick. Snow didn't look deep in the second cliff
  14. Tree wells are pretty much a non-issue in Japan. Most of the trees are deciduous so with no leaves the snow can fall directly to the ground. I think the issue for Japan other than avalanches is people dying in just plain deep snow Tree wells are pretty scary. I went in to a couple when I was young skiing in Manning Park and Hemlock
  15. Wow Koreans really like snow I guess all the other countries in the world with resorts opening in November with man made snow must not enjoy skiing as much as Korea
  16. I don't know Seemed pretty funny to me Except for the gun. It was spring though. Maybe they are worried about bears... I like knocking old trees down. The destructive side in me
  17. My pension came in today so I'm no longer poor Spent a bit of it today and bought climbing shoes Saltic Gurus Going to try them out in about 20 minutes No more sweaty rental shoes If you thought wearing bowling shoes was gross then you have never worn shared climbing shoes with no socks
  18. If the weather is that bad will you be able to land in Cranbrook at all?
  19. I wonder how those will be for touring They will be a lot better for skiing but touring you might have problems with blisters as your foot will be moving around in the boot. But you are used to that as you hike in your ski boots all the time Scarpa is going back to lace up liners now which is interesting You will certainly like getting into them on winter mornings when the shell is frozen. So easy Get them out on a hike. I love mine and it's so nice being back in them
