Take a look: http://www.snowjapan.com/e/gallery/index-snowy-japan.html

The south part of Gala Yuzawa always opens later than the other parts - mainly because it is steep and needs more maintenance. It was open for a short time earlier in the season (I think!), but they closed it once more when the heavy snows after new year arrived and dumped more snow on the area....... the reason is there is a huge amount of snow there and a high risk of avalanches. They want to open it up asap but it might take more time. With that part closed, the link to Yuzawa Kogen is of course cut off (as the ropeway from Yuzawa Kogen goes to the bottom of the south part of G

With the crazy amounts of snow that we have at the moment we are thinking of putting together a "Crazy Snow" Gallery on the site. We do have some good photos ourselves, and know that people have uploaded some good ones to their online galleries. We would like people to send any of their original (high quality) photos to us here at editor@snowjapan.com. What are we looking for? Anything that shows just how much snow we have got here in Japan - walls of snow, mountains of snow, snow on cars, people trying to move and clear up the snow, etc. We'll choose the most impressive ph

A new feature - "Winter Work in Hakuba (Interview with bettyx)" - has been put online. http://www.snowjapan.com/e/features/features-89.html "We spoke with Forum reader 'bettyx' about her experiences of working the winter season in Hakuba. Can you tell us a bit about yourself? In 2004, I graduated with a Masters’ degree from the University of Melbourne, after an undergraduate degree majoring in Japanese and English. When I was 18, I spent about three months traveling around Japan, and after seeing temples, shrines, volcanoes, monkeys and every type of onsen, I deci

Yes it does me jane. This year they are trying to promote "Mt Naeba" - which they want people to think includes "Naeba" and "Kagura" - with the Tashiro and Mitsumata resorts now just known as areas within Kagura. (That may well be what we though before, but anyhow that's how they want it to be known). Have a good time! -
