Best place in Yuzawa
montoya replied to Amos in Utsunomia's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
if you are stuck at big restaurant at the base of the #1 quad, you can always hiking up the slope. however that slope is directly exposed to the wind so it's more than likely gonna be pretty scoured. also not much fun with 20-30km/h winds in your face. I usually hit a different resort on super-windy days, such as Kandatsu, etc. -

top of naeba (off their website): btw, just picked up the latest issue of Powder Guide (2006 No.6), seems the whole issue is devoted to BC in Japan. check it out if you have the chance, pretty good stuff. -

btw, what do you do for a living SKI?

I see it as basically trying to explain what randomness is and isn't. I think Dembski's essential argument is that the diversity of life is statistically unlikely to have been produced by natural selection. dunno how this idea can be proved or disproved though. ultimately, I like to stick to the empirical stuff.

great pics, man that fireplace looks inviting. that's where I want to be after a day on the snow. anyone stick any marshmellos in there? looks like a super sweet set-up -
I would first think about the different aspects of it: *Inside the Yamanote-train line area or not *Within the 23-ku areas or not *Outlying districts or not *West vs. East, North vs South *JR vs non-JR lines vs subways *How much you wanna spend for rent *How much green you wanna see *Need a parking space or not *Like hills or not etc etc
