You're welcome. Give me a shout if you have any problems.
SKI - part of what I do is keep an eye on things and we have a few beeps and stuff that help but it's not all instant! Just depends on timing.
We try to be as helpful and accessible as we can, that's all.

Hi snowjunky
Once you have uploaded your photos to SJ, you will then have the photos stored on our server.... there is a URL for each photo - when you view a photo you should see View URL link under the photo... click on that and it will tell you the URL. Copy and paste and stick it in between tags and that should be it.
If you need more help please just send me a PM/email and I'll be happy to help.
Thanks

Hi there
Just wanting to get a bit of feedback as we troubleshoot something. It would be interesting to hear what version of Flash people have on their browsers and help us in making things as compatible for everyone.
As most people probably don't know off-hand, simply clicking on this link here will tell you "Your Player Version" -

Don't worry, nothing nasty will happen or any changes made to your computer!
It will only take a matter of seconds, but if you can please check it and let us know in this thread we would really appreciate it.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Photos being too big will not be a reason for them not displaying using the tags.
Did you not try uploading them to SJ, Myoko Guy?
It's very easy and the system now resizes photos automatically.
If you try and need any help please just let us know.

You are right! -
Let me just say that I'm glad that you found this little corner of the interwebs to be helpful, Matt.

Yes thanks Scott - very interesting/

Lots of times during the (Japan) day for me, pretty much keeping an eye on it all the time when the computers are on.
It is "work" though.

I really do not know what you mean by that comment.
Anyway, if you have some problem, please contact me.
Thanks.

I had not actually noticed your post and neither apparently had my colleagues.
No the system is not 'broken', though as I said here, we are having some permissions issues with some members accounts.
As usual - and as I said in that thread - we ask people to contact us directly if something is going on with their account and we will look into it for them.
If you don't already know the 'answer' to your own question/comments, please contact us outside of the forums rather than post on them. (Though, as this isn't concerning your own account, I'm not quite sure why you are so concerned..)

We have mailwasher checking every few minutes - get rid of all the rubbish and download when there's anything real there.
I do the same at home, though it's set to 10 minutes.

We are very scary - especially me.
SantaCruz - you should be able to use the Chat Box now. Please try.
Thanks.

PHOTOS SECTION - REDEVELOPED (automatic file resizing/optimizing; files up to 8MB OK)
In the first of our site updates/changes in time for the 09/10 season, we have completely redeveloped the Photos section of the site and it is now online and ready to use.
Basically, here is what's new:
- You can now upload your original photo 'as is', each up to 8MB in size - there is now no need to change the size and dimensions of photos before uploading them;
- The photos will automatically be resized and optimized;
- We have created a new simpler 'Single Photo' uploading page which allows you to just upload one photo at a time;
- We have also created a new 'Panoramic Photo' uploading page for panoramic-style (long and thin) images
The details:
Since we started our Photos section a few years ago we have always known that it would be optimal if members could quickly upload their photos 'as is' without having to worry about file size and image dimensions. For a number of reasons this hasn't been possible but with a fair bit of head-scratching, research and development along with a new server, we have been able to make this a reality.
The upload page itself hasn't really changed (although we have created two further uploading pages - one for a single upload and another for panoramic-style images). So it all looks pretty much like it has done since last season. But the system running in the background has been totally reworked with a view to making it much easier for people to use and upload photos.
So what does new system do?
- it takes your original photo(s) [each up to 8MB in size] and resizes it/them so that the longest side of the photo is 700 pixels in length (or 850 pixels in the case of photos uploaded using the Panoramic upload page);
- it optimizes the quality of the photo - saving it to a manageble size while retaining quality (settings determined by the system depending on the size of the original photo);
- a small snowjapan stamp image is also added to the bottom left of the photo. (Member names will not be added, but if you wish for your photos to display your username we will be happy to do that - just let us know).
If the longest side of your original photo is less than 700 pixels, the uploaded photo will remain unchanged.
The system accepts .jpg, .jpeg, .gif and .png image file types.
So you should be able to take your original large photos taken directly from your camera and upload them to SnowJapan without messing about trying to change the size of the photo. And the photo should end up looking very pretty online as well!
(The display of photos as well as galleries and user-defined galleries remains mostly unchanged).

By the way, if you have any relevant photos that you have not uploaded yet, please do give the new system a try.
We have done extensive testing on this new functionality over the last few weeks and are confident that it is working as it should, but always when complex coding like this goes out in the wild some issues may pop up, so any feedback is most welcome. As of course are new photos!
Thank you. Hope you like it.

Nice. I would like to 3 weeks in Hokkaido then as well.
(By the way, just to let you know, if you type the words Niseko now on the Forums they automatically get linked up to the daily report - like it has just now).

Hey I have just deleted a rather tiresome, offensive + very personal post from here. (hey, the first post edit/delete in well over 2 weeks!)
So, before this gets started, let me be selfish and ask that please lets just keep it less than personal (there are some extremely sensitive souls out there) and not something that will end up giving us a ton of hassle. Thanks.

Great to see snow again!

(Only because it's you Go Native, and your promise of huge amounts of beer.)
Welcome HakodateHunk.

[it's ok. In general please feel free to email/contact us any time to ask us if you are unsure about something - won't bite honest]

Thanks for the feedback.
We will be launching this new functionality soon (if all goes well with final testing next week) and so will post the details at that time.
Thanks for all the feedback both here and in private.

Hi bunlong
Take a look here:
http://www.snowjapan.com/e/spotlight/shiga-kogen.html
You'll see a link to the official Shiga Kogen site at the top there.
If you go there and click on Snow Field you will see maps and info about the different areas.

It's very difficult Error404!
We just try to take in feedback and make decisions based on what we think is best considering everything that's involved.
That's all we can do really.
Anyway, we will be making a fairly big update in the coming weeks and will be posting more to explain the details when that happens.
