Inawashiro Resort to re-open in the future?
Inawashiro Resort in Fukushima Prefecture has been closed since 2019, and it was unclear if the closure would be permanent.
But there is good news! A company is taking control of the resort (ski area and hotel), and a possible re-opening of the ski area is on the cards in the coming years.

Imajo 365 to re-open for the 2023-2024 season
Imajo 365 in Fukui Prefecture has been closed for several years, but has confirmed that it will reopen this year. Just the Number 1 pair lift is scheduled to be moving.
As of 17th December, details of lift ticket prices etc cannot be found. (No rush, guys!)

Official snow depth data daily updates
For the 2023-2024 season, we are reporting daily snow depth data for over 350 ski areas nationwide.... 35+ more than last year.
The data is the official snow depth numbers that ski areas themselves publish.
Important:
- Each ski area chooses where they take their measurements.
- (In some places) we display how the current number has changed (+/-) since the previous update.
- The data for all the ski areas is updated all at once, once a day.
- There may be slight delays, but usually no more than one day.
- SnowJapan does not have direct control of this data.
- Data will begin to appear after ski areas begin reporting the data.

We hope you have found this topic to be helpful. It was something new for this season, as we thought it would be a good idea to try and keep track of which ski areas were open every day in the first part of the season.
From this weekend, things start to change dramatically, with hundreds of ski areas planning to open over the next week or two. With a Japan-wide mild period over the last week or so, many will likely have to delay their opening... but hopefully not for too long with a cold front due at the weekend.
Unfortunately, we are not able to check and update the status of hundreds of ski areas every day. Of course, our Now reports cover many popular regions and the status of those ski areas. For other regions/ski areas, we generally recommend checking with individual ski areas before visiting. Links to official sites can be found on the relevant ski area listing pages within SnowJapan.
Remember, SnowJapan does not own any ski areas, and we do not work for them either! (About SnowJapan).

2023-2024 will be the last season for Mt Jeans Nasu ski area
In a surprise announcement today, it has been announced that Mt Jeans Nasu in Tochigi Prefecture will be open for the 2023-2024 winter season... but it will be its last.
Sunday 10th March 2024 is scheduled to be the last day of operation for the ski area.

Kunizakai Kogen Snow Park will be closed during the 2023-2024 season
Kunizakai Kogen Snow Park in Shiga Prefecture will not be opening for the 2023-2024 season.
The reason given is a lack of enough staff to open safely.

Makinoiro Kogen Snow Park becomes The Kijima Snow Park
Not to be outdone by its neighbour Kijimadaira, which changed its name to the quirky Snow Resort Romance no Kamisama, Makinoiri Kogen Snow Park has suddenly announced its own rebranding.
The new name is The Kijima Snow Park.

In the past, some of those have only updated their info on the day they open..... or after they open.
