  3. Just like to say thank you to all the people running this site, from the forums to the daily reports. The people doing the daily reports did a great job and with a little humour. I had my first trip to japan this year which I mostly researched from here, things like train details and locations, to how to find Kanda to buy a great ski jacket for my wife for $30 Aust. My choice to go to Goryu and the lodge I chose, and so much more. Hopefully going again next year, you have helped me and my wife go on a fantastic adventure in a wonderful country.. Thank you.
  4. Their pretty handy, a concierge, when your staying at a hotel and new in town, and you want directions or a nice place to eat. Or maybe you lost something?, thats what their job is. Still a poncy name , but probably because its french?
  5. Yep you get those out of control skiers that cant turn or stop and then crash into people. Thanks snowdude, I did find by the end of my trip that my thighs coped better, That info gives me hope, that getting better technique will help me ski longer, thought it was just because Im getting old..I might get a refresh lesson next time, might help..Skied great on the first runs but as the snow messed up, I found it difficult . Again technique woud have helped. Re - the snow boarders it might be where I was, Goryu/47, but all seemed in control and careful. Ps , love the web site/forum. d
  6. Its too late for me to have a go at boarding, but it does appear having a wider base to ride on makes it "look" easier on the legs. having just skied at Gory i found the runs pretty chopped up by mid morning and I found it hard going at times picking my lines. yes, there would be some lack of fitness and technique involved I agree, at 54 it does gets harder. I wonder if by using a wider ski would that help in those conditions, I hired skis, they were 70 waist which is what the guy at spicys suggested. They where great on the groomed runs early in the day. Just wondering if a wider ski wou
  7. Have never tried snow board, are they less tiring to ride than skis? Also they seem to look easier in the chopped up snow. Or is it Just my imagination??
  8. I agree. next trip I will ensure she has more lessons, (with the same instructor). She got frustrated with herself,, Its had been a few years since her last ski, $60 per lesson can add up though,
  9. I first skied when I was 8yrs while on holiday in Austria and may times since. Im 54 now Ive got it pretty much sorted, working with my age.. not getting air these days.. Powder is different in Japan, wasnt much when I was there this year , so maybe a powder lesson next visit? Having fun still..Loving Japan and the forums..

  11. Thanks U Tan, i have looked at Akakura Onsen, looks very promising, right location and price, also Yuzawa looks good with plenty of options in the same area. We have found a ski in at Iwappara, eat in really. But towns not far away. Because we stayed at Goryu my wife got the taste of going out at night for a feed. THey all like being taken out for dinner. A option I am looking at is 3 days at Myoko, back to Nagano for a couple of nights (wife keen on the shopping) to do some sightseeing around the area and then back to Nozawa Onsen for another 3 days. Or spend the all the time at Yuzawa tr
