  1. Me too, really enjoying these Neck. Thanks guys glad you like them. Was thinking to get across to Gifu and have a peep that way....
  2. Chriselle knows the deal. That place regulary gets 2 feet of fresh, when the main resorts down the valley get 2 inches!
  3. My buddy has the Ride Slackcountry and swears by it. Looks sweet with ridiculous reverse camber to compensate for it basically looking like a regular board. He rides it long, but sure I could get away with a shorter one. Tried a Salomon Powder Snake demo board and wasn't impressed with it. Never Summer Summit looks sick, but a little heavier than most. Jones Hovercraft looks good and the price is right, but never tried one. Bataleon wins for graphics!!! I would go with the Burton Fish personally. I wanna get one bad! Haven't tried a newer one, but they handle the tight trees and the open like
  4. Yeah it's a bit sad, especially seeing as I have fond memories of riding there.
  5. Mounting your board horizontally will either wear through the bottom part of your shoulder straps or cut through the back of your jacket, depending on which side your edges are.
  6. I think the consistent lack of a (-) has already messed this one up...
  7. Structures are far from sound. Huge sections of roof collapsed and gaping holes in other parts. One pretty large hole in the wall of the main building, plus several smaller ones. The hotel opposite the resort on the lake front looks to be operating, but I can't imagine who would be staying there... Maybe it's just occupied by the owner?
  8. The base area building has huge holes in the walls and roof, so I doubt anyone would buy it to run as a ski resort again. The lifts are definitely done. Pretty sure this place has seen it's last season as a ski resort unfortunately....
  9. I'm sure just the scrap metal value of the 5 lifts, with all their carriages, must be hundreds of thousands of dollars....
  10. Cortina should be on 13 now, as tubby and I both gave it a + at the same time
  11. So SJ users seemed to show quite a bit of interest in the Arai Mountain Resort and Spa thread I started a while ago. I actually went to Aokiko a few weeks before my Arai trip, to check out how it looks now and to take a few photos. Aokoiko ski resort closed just 5 years ago and I know the area well. I used to ride there fairly often during the first few winters I lived in Nagano. it was the middle resort of the Sun Alpina linked resort area and there were a few pretty fun lines between Kashimayari and Aokiko. I had actually visited the resort a few times since it closed, but only duri
  12. There is a huge difference between crappy snowshoes and good ones. MSR ones with the ascent bar are the best for sure. I have Denali ascents (the older evo ascents) with 4 inch extension tails for deep days. They rock! I have never heard of 'ocean and earth' snowshoes, but I can pretty much guarantee they will be utter s**t! Look on internet auctions and you should be able to pick up a decent pair of MSRs with ascent bars for not too much over 100 bucks.
