  1. No it really doesnt exist so it is really hard to explain to people what they need. In fact the Ski companies must love it.
  2. Pizzakaya is good but I cant stand being in that place when someone is smoking, it just doesnt vent and is small. Gravity Worx is good. Zen is about the best example of Nagano fresh soba and tempura Nonjae if you want fast izakaya food at a good price Sounds like Cafe in Echoland for good coffee and sandwiches. My fav place for lunch awesome fresh made sandwiches. AK burger on the way to Happo La Neige for an expensive date night 5 course plus meal Korean BBQ above master blaster in Echoland Korean BBQ accross from H plus between the station and Happo Aslo the chinese place is right t
  3. The selection though right now is off the charts compared to 10 years ago though. It is though to find that 1 ski quiver killer for anyone.
  4. New marrmot airbag pack New Down SKis Count down 1 2 and 4 New nordica hell n back boots New marker touring bindings New Beacon New Goggles
  5. I wouldnt condsider doing the snow bike at all. If you fall your knee will be at risk. I think you have to come to terms with the fact that you cant ski on this Holiday. I know that sucks it really really really does but you cant ski or slide on the snow. You could however do some low level Snowmobile stuff. Lion adventure does alot in the nagano area. Actually contacting them or even Evergreeon about other activities that might suit your needs isnt a bad idea. Hope the recovery goes well.
  6. Right now you loose money buying the all mountain pass. It is better to use coupons.
  7. There is no price there is a rumor only and this town is full of them. The rumor is 47 is open to the Idea but happo isnt. For example 50000 yen for happo 50000 yen goryu 20000 yen split to Iwatake or something along those lines as workable numbers for an earlybird pass.
  8. There are so many factors these days when selecting a ski. You have tip rocker, tail rocker, full rocker. stiff tail soft tail, slight camber to full camber. I stand by the comment that renting with the option of being able to try many skis is a very viable option. Most rental shops dealing with people from abroad will allow people to change as they please. Am I connected to the industry yes I am. Am I connected to a rental shop no im not. I have a small contract with Nordica boots and skis to help demo their products. I also have a small relationship with down skis out of Swiss al
  9. Again if they have no idea it is much better to rent. the choices out there are pretty much endless. Renting is the best option that will lead to buying the right ski.
  10. That is a good deal if you live in Nagano or you will travel alot. I know the Whitehorse and although you will get to use cars you wont be able to drive to Nozawa or Shiga maybe once maybe twice but not enough to make that pass worth it. Both areas are about 2 hours easy drive from Hakuba. As the crow flies they arent far but we have to go around. Your best best is the Happo or Goryu early pass and then the JTB pass but to be honest I think having only a few hours a day stay close forget the JTB pass and budget day passes or discount passes. There is talk about an all mountain pass every year
  11. Whats the point he pretty much owns an all mountain ski. Rent as you need depending on snow depth.
  12. LOL mike pow doesnt ride fat skis in the pow though. I ride anywhere from 135mm to 114 mm waist skis. The wider they are the more you will float. I would leave your skis at home and just rent from a shop that lets you trade in your skis on a daily basis. If you are going to continue to come to Japan then consider buying something.
  13. Most places give a pass to their workers or pay them the cost of the pass if they stay the season.
  14. There is the JTB pass which covers Iwatake Tsugaike Norikura and Cortina. There is a rumor that Tsugaike might be pulling out though. There is a Hakuba all mountain ski seasons pass out there you just cant buy it though. Only local students teachers and government workers are allowed to buy the pass. The nick name is the gold standard pass. So basically you are going to have to buy a one mountain pass I think.
  15. How many times do you think the snow cutters have to go over the same area at Tateyama before they even see the road? Id guess around 10 times maybe 12.
  16. If you do Tateyama by yourself keep everything small. It is a massive place.
  17. Man that isnt skiable in its present form or at least enjoyable. Wind hammered and cold you will need full ice axes crampons to even attempt getting up that mountain.
  18. Yesterday looked liked the last powder day of the season. The weather trends for all of Japan look very much like spring. Was a great powder season for sure. Had another awesome day yesterday smashing pillow lines with good friends. Time to bag some peaks and ski variable snow I think.
  19. It is snowing and my vp just siad I dont have to come to work. It is just like a week ago fat heavy flakes im so happy!
