  1. This is something my wife and I joke about a lot--- I have to say that the Hakuba report and the Hakuba twitter feeds tend to exaggerate. Considering many people might plan an expensive day or days out, it's simply not a good thing to do. Paraphrasing from last year's Hakuba twitter feed: "get ready for the greatest day of your lives" and "officially puking" --- amounted to now more than 10cm in the village. It just makes me not trust them even when they do have it right.
  2. The Xmas holidays are far off and no need to worry about snow amounts yet. Having said that, if you look at the daily snowfalls totals for Hakuba going back year by year you'll find Hakuba is not be the most reliable place for December snow. Compared to Myoko or Nozawa or Shiga it simply doesn't get as much as it used to. I say this as someone who loves the area, my wife is from the region, and I'm now two decades in Japan--- it just isn't what it used to be. Ask the old timers: the farmers, the ones who run the pensions, they will tell you the same. It's still gorgeous. It's still phenome
  3. Yes, the white ones, not the black tops. How were they for you last season? I'm based in Tokyo and more of the weekend warrior type (30 to 40 days a season) in Nagano, Niigata, Gunma. This Christmas and New Year's, finally, I'll be in Hokkaido for two weeks, thus, The Opus.
  4. Indeed I did--- last Sunday finally put the yen down for Mr. Pollard's Opus. Ah, three months to go.
