Once again, best to ignore the official snow depth numbers as they seem intent on not updating or under-reporting for some bizarre reason. There sure was snow outside my place this morning though and I can say with about 100% certainty that there was on all of the resort areas of Shiga Kogen as well. Why they choose to not report it is beyond me. There, I'll try not to mention that again! ;) Anyway after the sun that we got yesterday, it's back to snow overnight and snowing now. Forecast to ease off later on. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Lots of fresh snow in the last 24 hours in the region. Actually, as of 10:30am writing this report, visibility at the moment has improved and is quite good. The snowfall seems to be easing off. There is even a bit of sunlight shining through here in Maruike and blue skies opening up. But at the same time it is snowing lightly.... perhaps it is going to turn into a fine day. It should keep very cold though. We have this every year but resorts around Shiga Kogen always seem reluctant to add to their snow depth numbers below and the increases never seem to reflect the amount of snow that has fallen. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . After a clearing of the skies in the afternoon yesterday, light snow is falling again this morning in Shiga Kogen. Temperatures are keeping nice and low. 3 day weekend and one of the busiest of the season, traditionally. Probably tomorrow will be the busiest of the three days as lots of people making their way up to the area this morning. From what I can see around the area though lift lines don't seem too bad mid morning. A mix of light snow, cloud and perhaps sometimes sun is forecast for the next few days. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . It is a very cold morning in Shiga Kogen, down to minus double digits here in the central Maruike area. Light snow falling but not much in terms of new accumulation since yesterday. Visibility is pretty good out there this morning and it even looks like we might get to see some sun. Or maybe not, as the clouds thicken again. Tomorrow is forecast to be a day of good clear weather conditions. One for the camera if it turns out that way. Hopefully will keep cold. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . A very cold morning in Shiga Kogen. This morning most of the clouds have cleared and we have mostly blue skies. Just a few clouds hanging on here and there. The sun is out and it's one of those cold but lovely mornings. Should be a good day. Will be even better if we get some fresh snowfall. And it's due perhaps as early as this afternoon, then overnight. Could be a decent snowfall. For now though enjoy the morning. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . This morning we are back to snow with perhaps 5cm or so to report, hopefully more by the end of the day. Local forecasts tell us to expect a clear start to the weekend in the morning but back to snow by the end of the day. The same forecasts show us what looks like a promising snowfall around Tuesday/Wednesday. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . It's whiteout conditions this morning in Shiga Kogen. Rather windly and heavy snow falling as I write this, visibility... not good. Snow conditions... should be good. The wind is blowing it about but there was at least 30cm on the roofs of the cars in the car park this morning and it is still coming down. The wind seems to be affecting lifts at some resort areas, particular Yokoteyama and Okushiga Kogen - at their last updated before 9am there were both waiting for conditions to improved to open. The only resort areas to increase official snow depth this morning are Terakoya (which was standing on 120cm for what seems like ages), Kumanoyu and Yokoteyama. All of the others have 'updated' weather conditions and temperatures but not moved those numbers. It's as if they are allergic to numbers of 120cm or something! I just don't get it. But anyway... believe me, we have some new snow this morning. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . After the snow of yesterday it was cold last night but temperatures are quickly rising here as the sun is out early on and shining down on us. We're going to get to see the tarmac on the roads today I think as it warms up. Of course, warming up here means temperatures probably hovering around zero and possibly getting into low positive numbers. So that's cold for some! But it's a beautiful morning here as in many regions. Blue skies and sun. Remember your camera. Perhaps more sun tomorrow but more cloud forecast. Keeping mild but a chance of snow going into Sunday. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . The snow is coming down very nicely at the moment here, and since last night I have about 15cm to report. If it continues like this, there will be more. There's a bit of a wind out there at the moment but not affecting lifts at all, but it feels colder than the -6C I am seeing on the thermometer here. Visibility is generally poor as the snow comes down hard. The forecast doesn't actually tell us to expect much today actually and a clearing is expected at the latest tomorrow, and then sun on Friday along with milder conditions. I have been out of Shiga Kogen until just 30 minutes ago and I was worried that the rain in the valley might be happening here too but I'm pleased to report that is it snowing up here. Gusty wind blowing it all around as well at the moment. It's remaining relatively mild though with the forecast saying that they will drop throughout the day today. So we should be back to 'cold' very soon. Snow forecast for the day, easing off tonight and tomorrow starting with cloud and very possibly sun. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . The snow continues though the numbers aren't so big really. Add another 15cm or so since yesterday. This morning it's really snowing hard again and generally poor visibility with some gusts of wind as well making it for not the kindest of conditions out on the slopes. This snowfall will probably not continue for the whole day though as we have clear conditions forecast for tonight and tomorrow too. A few days of milder conditions is on the cards.
