The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . The snowfall was somewhat disappointing yesterday with not a whole lot to show for it. I so want the season to get going properly. And while we do have some snow possible today and tomorrow, it's Monday through the middle of next week that we should be excited about. The forecasts that matter still show us down for heavy snow around Tuesday-Wednesday. Nozawa-like snowfall please! For the coming weekend the forecasts give us a mix of cloud and light snowfall at times, and happily it will be keeping decently cold. Hope those of you in Nozawa now enjoy the festival. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Morning from Nozawa and yesterday we were treated to a Nozawa-like snowfall, I'm very happy to report. The resort reporting up 20-30cm of fresh since 3pm yesterday and up to 11cm since the morning report yesterday - so I made that as meaning there must be up to 40cm of snow up there to enjoy this morning. I have measured myself here near base a 32cm of fresh snowfall. It's the kind of number that we are used to getting! So after that rubbish weekend, we find ourselves enjoying a good new layer or snow - and some sunshine and cold conditions to enjoy it in as well this morning. Nice. More snowfall is forecast for later today and tomorrow; some forecasts tell us to expect a fair amount too. Fingers crossed. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . It has been a good few days for us with lots of fresh snow at last to play in. The resort has reported 24-30cm of fresh snowfall since yesterday morning with about half of that coming since yesterday afternoon. This morning there is still a lot of cloud around, but the sun breaking through clouds and there's blue sky in places as well. The remaining clouds will probably disappear leaving us with a fine day - perfect to get out and enjoy the fresh snow. It's National Foundation Day in Japan (a national holiday) and so the resort treats it like a weekend with all but one lift operating this morning. Tomorrow we are back to a normal weekday. So how's that forecast looking for the weekend? Still looking like it's going to rain and be too warm for our liking, unfortunately. We can only hope for better than the forecasts. The good thing is that once we get over this warmer spell we should be back to snowfall once again by late Sunday and Monday. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Now this is more like what we expect here in Nozawa! The resort has reported 40+cm on upper slopes and a good chunk of that down at base as well, and the snow continues to fall now as I write this report. Yes! Yamabiko also - at last - hitting the 2m mark for the official snow depth which is great to see (even though it should have been there come new year!) So conditions this morning should be top rate even if visibility is limited out there. Things may clear to some degree later on with lighter snow forecast. Tomorrow the forecast is for sunshine so an early start should make for an excellent day. Highly recommended if possible to get here for tomorrow rather than the weekend because unfortunately rain and warm temperatures are still probably going to be what's happening on Saturday. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Yesterday we had mixed weather conditions here in Nozawa. As can often happen here - snow falling higher up on the top Yamabiko runs with sunshine and part blue skies on lower slopes. The resort reported 2-6cm of fresh snow at 3pm yesterday afternoon (since the morning report), but there's no further cm of snow this morning. This morning the clouds are gone and it's clear and sunny from early on - it's going to be a fine day, just as we were expecting. Very cold early morning too though the sun should be warming things up this afternoon. We're still expecting to be back to snowfall tomorrow as well, so if all goes well we'll need googles and extra layers tomorrow. The heaviest snow is expected tomorrow night though it should hopefully be continuing into Wednesday as well. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Good morning from Nozawa. It's snowing... in a this-season-special kind of way (ie. not huge dump) but the resort reports up to 10cm of snow on the upper slopes this morning and it is continuing to snow as the lifts start moving. Not expected to last that long today though with the day ending up with the sun shining down on us a possibility. From the official info it looks like Challenge 39 has opened up - going to give that a go today. Clear skies and sun are forecast for tomorrow after a cold night tonight. For those of us looking for dumps of snowfall though Tuesday night seems to be what we should be looking forward to. Let's hope it happens. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Morning from Nozawa and it's back to snow again today. Fine weather yesterday and some good conditions to enjoy as well. It got fairly mild, though not like what we had last week thankfully, and there was definitely some snow melt going on but now that we are back to snow again today we should be getting some good cm in today. As much as possible, as tomorrow we're going to be back to clear skies and sunshine again. The weather seems somehow just really confused this season. And not making it any easier for us either! The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Some very respectable snow numbers since the report yesterday morning with some really heavy snow falling for quite a lot of the day. Proper Nozawa style! The resort made a few updates during the day all adding up to around 50cm of fresh snow in places and not that much less than that down at base either. It was a good day and this morning should be excellent - helped along by some very fine clear skies and sunshine. Going to warm up a little this afternoon, hopefully not too much. Tomorrow is also going to probably be sunny and a bit warmer than today too, with a high of around 6-7 degrees expected at base. Then we come to Saturday which promises snow later in the day and the chance of some rain (please..no) earlier on before the snow - though it'll probably start off as snow on upper parts of the mountain. The roller-coaster like and odd weather of the season continues! (Let's have some more days like yesterday!) The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Morning from Nozawa and we have fresh snow! (* Not that such a thing should be much of a surprise for February in Nozawa!) But yes it's good to have 10+cm of soft snow underfoot this morning and the resort reports 10-15cm across the mountain, and it is still snowing now. Hopefully there'll be more cm of snow to come today and overnight into tomorrow as well with some forecasts telling us to expect snow on Friday too. And then at the end of the weekend and through Monday. Could we be on for a very happy and snowy end to February and beginning of March? Wouldn't that be just what we want! Morning from Nozawa where there has been more snow since yesterday - not as much as the previous day but enough to top up tracks and keep things in good condition. Light snow still falling this morning but it's forecast to stop this morning. Tomorrow and Friday expect sunshine and also temperatures that gradually rise. It's happened quite a few times this season but we have some decent snowfall and then it decides to warm up too much - same story this weekend by the looks of things with temperatures probably rising to 10C or above at base level on Saturday and Sunday. And maybe some rain on Sunday too. Oh dear. Stop it, please!! I was just reading a few of the other reports and I agree. If you are able to, be here today and tomorrow rather than the weekend. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Morning from Nozawa. I'm down with a bad cold at the moment so I wasn't able to get out yesterday and enjoy the fresh snow but friends who came back seemed to have had a good time up there. There was more snow during the day yesterday and overnight with the resort reporting 3-5cm this morning (they also I believe had 10cm during the day on the upper slopes which isn't included). So it should be a decent morning again - perhaps adjusted to 'this season standards'. Cold too this morning with the resort saying it was -10C up on Yamabiko as of 8am. Light snow falling early on due to ease off during this morning. We might even get to see the sun this afternoon. There is regular snow on the weekly forecast which is promising. It might get slightly warmer around Sunday with the chance of some rain at base, but should be cold enough even then to be snowing higher up.
